  1. I love this thread. Recently have gotten into spinning lots of dub techno/deep house and this thread is a goldmine for finding some new stuff. Some personal favorites... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0G9RG3sOXdk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZn_DWtku_U Any more recommendations of stuff along that line would be greatly appreciated. I've pretty much commited to buying on-sight any Trentemoller I come across. His productions are brilliant.
  2. I just fail to see how this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZkzcm7ubQg and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2En93fR_09w can be considered the same genre. I understand how, looking back at the history the former evolved from the latter (largely in part thanks to Coki and Rusko, but I was poking fun at the fact that the majority of DSF blames the USA for it), but there's pretty much no semblance between the two types of tunes anymore, even remotely. The Doctor P tune is just ear piercing and obnoxious, and that's exactly what brostep fans want. It's just sad that there's no real dubstep shows around here I can go to, brostep has become "dubstep" in the minds of the beer vacuum, gunfingers-in-the-air club crowd, and they're the people that pay the bar tabs and cover charges that keep the nights going and the DJs & club staff employed...so I ultimately have no say in the matter. Also, WATMM and messageboard are where you go to bitch about things you don't like....CODY. Also also, brostep sucks.
  3. Nah shitsux and it hurts my ears when I go to a "dubstep" night and it's all piercing wubwubwub and formant filtered yoyoyoyoy for 6 hours. Also, using my real name on a messageboard is weird. You're weird.
  4. Coki ruined dubstep with midrange wobble. All the old dubstep fans were in denial so they blamed it on America.

  6. I like brostep. I like the name brostep too. It perfectly encapsulates what the subgenre is all about. Headbanging, gunfingers in the air, and cheap beer specials.
  7. The "brostep" name is legit. Own up to it, bro. Even folks like Joe Nice use the term. Claw even started a label called Brotown specifically to release brostep. Doomstep just sounds like something a bunch of goth kids made up. Accept your inner bro and do Jagerbombs to the sick new Rusko CD. For my money, Breakage & Untold are still the best real dubstep producers around.

  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vYt9t3rKzg Fucking maaassssiiiive. Real dubstep. Real emotive, deep, heavy sub bass focused dance music. Not that horrible, atonal, soulless tear-out brostep wobble shit. Seen?
  10. Good fucking calls on these. All stellar. Slowly working my way through the rest of the suggestions.
  11. Nevermind, you meant great lengths. Can't wait to hear it. >:]
  12. The split he did with 2562, or a full album?
  13. I've been really digging J Dilla - Donuts and Dr. No's Oxperiment lately (both of which were recommended from folks here at WATMM). I want more in this vein. Hit me up with some suggestions. Yes, I have both Flying Lotus albums and the new Vibert.
  14. We're listening to SubFM and gaying it up, dubstep style, in the IRC room. Join us.
