Video is mediocre. I still don't understand how this track fits in with the description of the album posted a pages back. I'm hoping it will be a lot weirder. Also, as someone mentioned, OPN should stop with the auto-tune, trap style vocals. They absolutely suck. It's not the first time they've ruined a perfectly fine track. This was (by far) my main problem with Garden of Delete.

Yeah, track is pretty decent otherwise. But if there's gonna be a bunch of auto-tuned vocals on this, count me out.

Haven't got around to the latest Cindy Lee record yet, but it's on the list! The last one was really cool.

But yeah, I think my favourite project to come out of that whole camp was the first Viet Cong record. What a fucking triumph that was.

There were recent talks of Preoccs finishing up another album, I'm guessing it'll drop early 2021. The last one was quite disappointing (imo) so I'm hoping they redeem themselves with this one. A return to the raw sound, like you say, would be very welcome!

Agreed on that being my favorite work from the camp, including the debut Cassette. I like some material on both the 2nd and 3rd albums, maybe equally and for different reasons, but they do pale in comparison to the early stuff. I'm hopeful for new material (haha) soon and that it's stronger!

  3. Gonna try and squeeze this in today, didn't get around to it last week. Guess I was sorta distracted by SIGN, although I only listened to that during the stream and once the next day.

Good to hear the feats aren't overwhelming, and that it may be on par with Human Energy (which I only first played after this one was announced but have been keeping in rotation).

Top choice. Did you check out the rarities 12" that came out a couple weeks ago? Had some cool stuff I've never heard before, inc. a sick alt version of Group Transport Hall.

Yes, excellent little comp and I also hadn't heard any of the tracks except for the album version of Group Transport Hall. I revisited the first album last week and the album version sounds incredibly rushed in comparison, even in the context of the album. I'm liking the alt version a lot more.

Makes me miss the early, more raw and rock-based Viet Cong sound. Also, in case you haven't, check out Cindy Lee's What's Tonight to Eternity from earlier this year.

  5. Work has been SUPER busy lately. It's rare I get an hour of quiet where I can kind of ignore everyone. Today, I had two hours – one during which I walked my dog and made a salad, the next I was able to listen to SIGN with headphones and follow this thread. I'm lucky to have been able to do this.

I'm a music instructor of sorts so... lol

"Ok guys today instead of playing any music we are going to learn how to listen to Autechre"

Actually that's not a bad idea...

I mean isn't that what teachers did back in the day when they were hung over or something – put on a movie? I say go for it. Exercise young minds.

  7. Watched the first episode of Search Party on HBO. Jury is still out.

Almost done revisiting Seinfeld, finished season 2 of Pen15, and about halfway through the 3rd season of Snowfall. It's pretty good, may have mentioned already but sometimes the violence is a little too graphic. And there are plot holes.

  8. It's so close to when they're likely to release the digitals, I don't need or want to hear a single track.

That said, I haven't preordered because I figure I can pick it up locally. But, I want the digitals if they release them early, without having to pay for physical and digital. Dilemma. I certainly don't want to pay that $14 shipping.

Lovely cover art (as always) and some great moods in the sounds.
Can't help but feel that he's good at invoking a vibe but that it's usually let down by the meandering structures that feel like a few sketches chucked together.

Haven't been properly into one of his releases since r+7 where the structures better serviced the whole.

Nothing has really grabbed me, then again I've only listened to R Plus 7 and Garden of Delete. I gave R+7 a 3/5, but haven't rated the latter despite 3 listens, apparently. Not sure I ever tried Replica.

    Why am I here? I don't know.

  10. Discussing the grammatical correctness of Autechre song titles. They flew too close to the sun that is "proper" song titles with this one, and clearly should have just called it "al lend" or "alle nd" to avoid confusion.
