peterson's reaction reminds me of the ancient Sumerian epic poem called "if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen"

Nothing really new there though. Regarding length, the way Autechre uses "EP" has never really had any relation to how the majority of the recording industry uses it. Subrange EP is what almost 60 minutes? A lot of other artists would release that as an album and be done with it. Then again lots of Autechre EPs were split across two 12"s with different catalog numbers and alternate album art, with an album length CD release. Anvil Vapre, almost 36 minutes. EP7, almost 70 minutes counting the hidden track not on vinyl.
Not sure if this is sort of a "hey, we have our album out, our EP is a collection of alternate explorations of those ideas that stand on their own" or it could just be an IDM convention.. Aphex Twin's done this too
Then again there's also their mail order EP either We R Are Why and Wap88, Autechre's remixes of Gescom, so you can add two more eps there to the list. Maybe it's about feels and trying to logick this will end in a failure lol.

well on the bright side this got me to listen to dublin 2018, so 2 years later I can join the previous enthusiastic posts in this thread as this is gorgeous stuff

Really looking forward to this one and even though I already have the originals on wax, I'll definitely get the represses as they have a whole new album of material on them and so far it sounds good.
Between this and the coil reissues I'm set for happy turntable times

Nice bass sound. It's all right. Maybe not quite the second coming the bleep hype makes it out to be for $17 USD plus shipping
(The youtube auto play went to Coil, Love's Secret Domain after this track and I was reminded just how crazy their production was back in 1990-1991)

Only halfway through. So far: If Sign was their Oversteps/LP 5 side, Plus feels like a return to their EP7 side.

Is download only available for those that pre-ordered? Still showing "available October 16" on Bleep and AE store.
I ordered halfway through the show and still received my download. Had to fully refresh the site but it was there

I had a hunch and bought the album halfway through the stream. Just got my downloads.
Gotta say, releasing the album right after the stream was really classy. Nice one

This album is gonna be perfect for late night walks in my locked down post apocalyptic increasingly sketchy neighborhood

This one is kind of reminiscent of Boards of Canada High Scores territory. Nice.

I like peak AE abstraction, but this lushness with recognizable chord progressions and shit is pretty sweet actually

Anyway, FSOL has always been good about this stuff as you can just pick it up on their website later

I'm not sure if Canada had the same RSD releases as US, but the FSOL and AA releases were not available in US. That aside, I couldn't agree more, actually quite dislike RSD. As someone who goes to the local shops every week, I find it irritating as hell that I have to line up at the crack of dawn if I want something on RSD. I guess this year was probably great for the shops as hopefully still pulled in people who only visit 1-2 a year and as I want all the shops to survive Covid, shouldn't complain. I skipped, just regular record shopped last weekend, got the one US release I cared about (Sun Ra box set)
I don't know honestly either. The last time I tried to figure this out was when the Brian Eno/Kevin Shields RSD release went out two years ago. I called almost every record shop in town (and there's quite a few here). Most of them told me that had no idea what they were getting until they got it and had to go digging. Half a day later, one of the smallest shops in the city got back to me, they had received one copy, of course by the time they called me it had sold to someone else.
Since then, I don't have the time or energy to bother with RSD

Nice, going to take a listen.
Some of my local shops have spread out RSD over the fall. I wish RSD didn't have to be so hyped and weird, and suppliers could just let us and shops know what releases they were getting, because I'd pick up the 12" locally if it were available
-
Can't wait for the fake pre-release "rip"!
-
Kicking myself for not picking this up on wax when 7.1 and 7.2 were sitting in the used bin for cheap a year ago.
-
I don't know! Other than the arcola ep last year there hasn't been much in a while, and the wording on the page is kinda vague..
-
Replying to this necrothread (rather than starting my own) because preorders are up for the 12" again on their website (not on bandcamp tho). I just nabbed mine.
Oh, they also just released a compilation album called Lost Fragments https://dreamcatalogue.com/store/product/2814-lost-fragments/

Ahhhhhh, right!
Nice. I honesty think Plaid is at their strongest when making short, focused releases. All the EPs of theirs I have are solid.

Liking this one enough that I might even pick it up on wax when local shops finally stock it--which I haven't done with Plaid in a while

Managed to find a copy locally.
I have the original virgin fold-out release which is a really nice package, but sadly by far one of the lowest qualilty and noisiest pressings I have in my library--no doubt because someone, probably at virgin, thought it would be a great idea to fit the entire album onto one 12". Happy to finally have the whole album playable on wax.
