  1. Yxguden immediately felt like a guilty pleasure, reminded me of crowded parties 10 years ago. I guess I needed just that today after a very shitty day at work and played the album : it makes a lot more sense in this context. Sound design feels a bit exhausting by the end of the album imo but there are some epic moments to be heard - Xkirgyos especially. Also liked the album closer which sounds as it was made out of a timestretched sample from Robert Miles' Children.

the amount of skill this dude put in the production is insane, needs to be played ball hard on a soundsystem.

both have very good sound systems. probably different room acoustics.  would love to hear both.

I am thinking, if I am to take a week of vacation to attend concerts in April, that I should do both indeed !!

  3. With OPN concert being april 9th in Paris too, I am considering a small period of vacations there to witness sam and bob farting in a pitch dark Trianon

Edit : also, it is beyond my understanding that promoters in southern France seem to never give a fuck about anything electronica related beside dubstep and house

  4. Finished reading 1Q84 recently, don't remember reading a series that fast since Harry Potter when I was a teenager. It was very good, loved the story and how each book had its own pace and atmosphere. Highly worth your time.

Just started Erewhon right after that (because OPN) but interrupted it because I got caught in an extremely interesting, well-written but chilling essay on incest ("Ou Peut Etre Une Nuit", not sure it has been published outside of France yet).

the original Tracker seems pretty handy in size for portable/couch type playing, yeah? is it more the design that makes the Mini easier to just pick up and play, it looks like it’s made for two handed quick play…the Tracker looks more lapp able to me (never touched either)

OG Tracker is also very lightweight and offers a nice hands-on workflow, yet the idea never crossed my mind to take it with me on the couch and do music outside of my studio - mostly because I felt I needed a table to do so.

Mini layout seems very thought-out and usable.

However, I am not sure I would have bought this device given its price point if I wasn't acquainted with the Tracker already!!

  6. Received my Tracker Mini a few days earlier than expected. Having used the Tracker before I felt immediately home, the Mini is extremely easy to get going. They added virtual instruments and provided more complete sample packs which is good too. It feels incredible to work on my projects while lying in bed or in the toilets (think Nintendo Switch but for music production).

The build quality seems very nice, I am only missing the clickety-ness the OG Tracker's buttons had!

  7. I wish I could do such amazing "spectulative autobiographies" or whatever. I'm obsessed with this album right now.

Nightmare Paint sounds like an acoustic take on Garden of Delete "hypergrunge" which makes it even more melancholic. Quite an emo album in my opinion, but nothing wrong with this haha. OPN is the king.

What's your go-to hardware piece of kit to do glitchy things? I've got a Qu-Bit Data Bender and I'm thinking of getting a Cascade, too; I also have Roland's Scooper, but what other standalone units are out there that you know and/or like for mangling audio?

How's the data bender ? Was planning on getting one at some point when I first got into Eurorack but it didn't make any sense for me to buy this one first

By the way: Anyone that had drift problems with the Joy-con on the Nintendo Switch?

Hope I will not encounter it but maybe there is a easy fix

Sadly yeah, I experienced drift roughly 3 years after buying the switch (and 3 years after buying new joy-cons). But it was a time when I was heavily playing the Switch, and especially games where the joysticks were heavily used (Super Meat Boy, stuff like that)

There is a workaround, online markets like Amazon sell joycon repair kits which are very cheap and are more than enough to fix the drift (my replacement stopped working after 8 months tho lol).

    Thanks alot!

I like mostly everything but no sports game except for some Racing games maybe.
I love Super Mario 64 but hate that I have to pay a subscription plan for playing that only?? My god not cool Nintendo!

There is so many Mario games.. Which one is the most like the Mario 64?

Everything is very nice so far.. The internal speaker is pretty weak but with Headphones it's good.
I will check out the Nintendo Store also.

Well you can try to grab a copy of Mario 3D all stars if you really want a fix of Mario 64 on Switch (physical copies only !). I personally really enjoyed Mario Odyssey !

The portability of the Switch also makes it an awesome platform to play JRPGs if you like the genre. Don't sleep on Xenobladea chronicles !

  11. That second single felt like Burial's take on trance and I am not sure whether I like it or not.

I feel like this guy's debut album is extremely over-hyped as a genre-defining statement or whatever, yet it doesn't sound that unique. Lorenzo Senni's output felt way bolder right from the start imho (bolder and also way more fun)

Im curious about the Switch Oled. The screen seems to be top notch!
But don't know so much what games there is.. I like mystery, puzzle + point and click!

    Any recommendations?

If you like mystery and puzzles, you can play both Switch episodes of Zelda. They are both amazing games regardless of the genre.

There are good point and clicks as well (a port of Myst, the latest Monkey Island, every Deponia games, haven't tried them all).

You can also go to the Nintendo website and sort the games by genres. Cheers ! (also, get a switch)

  13. I have been trying the "MyHouse.wad" Doom 2 mod this afternoon and what a ride, it was really mind-bending.

I don't want to spoil too much, there are plenty of videos online that really go in-depth on the game, its mechanisms etc. but if you enjoy Doom 2 or want an obscure, slightly horrific experience full of lore and set in some kind of alternate 90's reality, definitely give it a go!

That final title track is mesmerising. Been playing it for months. The rest of the album is forgettable.

Thanks for this message, almost like everybody else I gave up on the album by the ghetto love story track but this last track is very good.

(Also : I still enjoy Recycled Times!)
