  1. i have to change my opnion on this track a bit. the first ~5 minutes are crap. especially these simple repeating parts suck big time. but once the pad-like sounds starts it gets over the top gorgeous.

  2. THIS MIGHT BE THE MOST IMPRESSIVE SOUND DESIGN THAT EVOKES MADE-UP MATERIALS AND TEXTURES THEY HAVE DONE.. WHAT COULD IT BE CALLED? NON-SPECIFIC PHYSICAL MODELLING? SQUEAKY METALS HITTING GLASS IN RUBBER CAVES, ETC.. REALISTIC IN A FANTASTICAL WAY.

yep, the sound is perfect and much better, than every other ae release.

tac lacora: wow. what a banger.

  3. this album feels very hypnogogic to me, listening to it for the 3rd time now and i feel like im listening to practically a different album. anybody else getting this effects?

yeah, same for me. the second run was surprisingly different and seemed much shorter (not in a bad way). overall it's a brilliant, deep and very interesting album.

I feel there is a lot to "uncover" the next few times. and again surprisingly: i had quite a few deja-vu moments. I'm sure I heard a alot of the drumparts in their livesets over the last 2 or 3 tours. i really think the drum-programming in "lcc" was some sort of stepstone for ae's later tracks.

I had a funny nodezsh moment. i was instantly turned off by it's randomness, i thought nodezsh was exai's "known(1)" (big time shitty track), but after a few minutes, the melodic parts suddenly made sense in some wonderful and very alien way.

~1:56 in prac-f where everything opens up suddenly, just like in the hitchhiker's guide, where they are inside magrathea with that cable-car-thingy. It didn't work with my in-ear-headphones earlier today on my way to work, but with my beyerdynamic-headphones at home the moment was massive.

i'm sorry to say, but "flep" sucks and cloudline doesn't work for me...

  4.

So have warp sent out promo's and put an embargo on reviews as well as leaks / radio plays?

Certainly not, but quite often labels ask to publish reviews not before the release. Generally, you get the reviews maybe 1-2 weeks in advance.

In regards to radio play, maybe they haven't sent anything out to radio djs? I know that there was a show on byte.fm a few days ago where a guy played Exai.

there was an embargo last time.

  5. Considering the quite bouncy, even danceable beats of Exai - well danceable in an Ae sort of way of course - I'd dare say this is Autechre's Funk album. It moves your arse from side to side and twice around the globus. Damn, just dislocated my hip.

For everybody waiting, I'd could organise a home listening session (10 quid permission fee) :diablo:

k, count me in (as long as you live near southern germany) :cerious:
