  1. I think I read these two pages in an edition of My Troubles With Women as well. Or somewhere else ? These drawings make me want to read more by him, I didn't know that much of his books, maybe five of them. I think my favourite one was Amerika so far

  2. I feel extremely pleased for you, Coil is definitely one of my favourite bands / artists. It has a depth that very few music have.

Also, The Ape Of Naples (from which are the two tracks you posted) is IMO a very good place to start.

    Have a good time

  3. Im cool with Techdiff long post, except what I get from the Steinvord tunes is certainly whar artists like devine or venetian snares lack. When i listen to a snares track it's sound too much like he just loaded a shitton of samples and ran them on a grid with a tracker, and Devine is just too much "bleeps and bloops". With Steinvord I get those nice eerie vibes from some drum and bass records while it has all that fucked up drum processing and programming, with the rythm sort of sliding and being fluent and not just super quantized like everyone else out there does. Its kinda hard to explain. Like earing that Exile track and others.. i get too much this sort of "vst plugin" on there constantly throwing effects every bar when with Steinvord I get the feeling whoever did that did it tastefully and manually. This is why at the end of the day I dont really like a lot of music of this style besides when AFX or the Pusher does it. They have great taste and so does Steinvord. I want a big intense sonical assault but feeling it was nicely crafted at the same time. Other guys sound too mechanical and "autechre-ish", or just way too "breakcore". Whatever, hope someone gets what im trying to say.

thank you for writting what I can't express in english ! that's pretty much what I wanted to say in my latest post here :)

  4. What I can't understand about almost everyone here telling that it absolutely can't be either afx or squarepusher is that most of the time, your point is that it could be anyone else because of the technique, but what I hear in those tracks sounding afx/tj like is all about the music (depending on the tracks, and I'm mostly basing my judgment on the myspace ones).

of course a lot of people can do complex drum programming or whatever "like" that, but what makes these two artists (notably) being such geniuses is that every details of the "programming" is musically relevant / powerful and actually "says" something. And I can definitely hear this musical relevance in the tracks I've heard from the myspace rip.

i don't know, that's just the way it sounds in my ears anyway but I just can't get how you can honestly say that a track like for example Untitled (myspace rip again) definitely isn't afx when you've previously listened/loved drukqs.

  5. Someone else who listened to Untitled 97 could give his point about the track being aphex or not ?

IMO it can't be anyone else. Or it's someone that is a genius in the way he caught both Aphex's music and sound (the detuned piano sound, seriously...). Or Aphex is just involved somewhat (in the sound engineering of the track or I don't know). Or it's some kind of a joke. Because Malestorm sounds like nothing but a Squarepusher Go Plastic / Ultravisitor B-Side, so maybe afx and squarepusher both "gave" one or two tracks to the release of a third ("steinvord") unknown artist, just to create a buzz. Or it's really a collab between the two. I don't know but IMO rdj is very close to this. At least partially.
