  1. I'm torn on this one, I really want it to be good, because as we all know, the first one was incredible... But, we also know how the trend of Hollywood reboots can go. It's hard to tell from the trailer really, it seems they got the basic aesthetics down but that's all that can really be judged from it. There's no telling yet wether or not it'll be a quality sequel or the average Hollywood-ized bullshit reboot.

I want to like it, but I'm still skeptical and withholding judgement.

  2. Deep into East of West - which is a political cyberwestern about the Four Horsemen and the Apocalypse...? Really excellent art and writing. I'm really in love with the whole setting and backdrop created.

I've been meaning to get to this title eventually, it definitely sounds intriguing.

  3. Been reading a few things lately

Finished the first 4 issues of KIll Or Be Killed, the latest title from Ed Brubaker & Sean Phillips, kind of a supernatural noire so far. Guy cheats death on a failed suicide attempt and now in exchange for his life has to provide souls. It's pretty good so far but is still developing, Issue 5 will be out in January.

Also picked up The Disciples by Christopher MItten, haven't started it yet but the artwork looked pretty cool and the synopsis seemed like a pretty cool "space horror" kinda Dead Space-ish.

"In a future where our solar system has been colonized by wealthy elites, interstellar bounty hunters Dagmar, Rick, and Jules follow a missing girl's trail to a cult on Ganymede, Jupiter's largest moon. When they arrive, the intrepid bounty hunters discover the cultists have provoked…"

Also been purchasing the Spawn Origins collections lately after I got a crazy deal on all the original TPB's. Hoping to at least eventually colelct the entire Al Simmons run, I probably won't read much into the Rebirth era.

  4. Hideo Kojima presents Norman Reedus .. Guillermo del Toro .. Mads Mikkelsen .. starring in a Hideo Kojima .. directed by Hideo Kojima

I still don't get exactly what this game is after watching both trailers... However with all those names involved (and Junji Ito perhaps still having an influence on creature design), I'm fucking sold, whatever it is. It would appear some elements of what would have been Silent Hills will carry over, but I'm guessing this will be a bit more action-oriented than pure survival-horror.

I REALLY want Mass Effect: Andromeda to be good, I loved the first 3,  and so far from what we've been shown this one looks to be good as well. However, I can't help but be a little hesitant about it with how much I hated Dragon Age: Inquisition which is BioWare's most recent game. I was skipping sidequests by the end just to get through it and be done playing it, the ending wasn't even worth it either.

  5. Just finished the first Hitchhiker's Guide book in the series, hilarious read. Took me a while to get through because I've been too busy with schoolwork to bother reading most nights.  Now on to The Restaurant at the end of the Universe...

  6. I can't stop playing Stardew Valley

My wife started that up this weekend, she seems to like it... It's kinda like Animal Crossing is it not?

Meanwhile, I'm completely hooked on Titanfall 2, I don't think Ive been this hooked on a FPS in a LONG time, but it's just damn fun to play.

  7. One of my professors has all the students in our class designing a proposal for a postcard mailer for an event a local organization that represents many print companies is holding... It's a real client and should they decide to use our design that'd be great to put on a resume but...

The ladies who are our clients are absolutely awful though. They may work for a company that represents other print and graphics companies, but these two are very clearly not visual people. Their suggestions to all of our design revisions are just awful, my design is now nowhere near where I was hoping to go with this, and frankly after following their input I think it looks pretty damn stupid (my final proposal may not even be the one they pick anyway...). Definitely not my proudest work.

They also, gave us an email of what they want to include on the back of the postcard... The card is a 5" x7"  and they wrote out practically an entire letter. They also expect logos of various companies sponsoring the event to fit as well... I repeat on a 5 x 7. There's no way to fit all this and make it readable.

Because it's essentially an assignment for a class, I haven't really been able to give any feedback on their awful suggestions, it's more just "yeah okay, sure"...
I'm so sick of this assignment/client.

  8. It's a shame so many people are sleeping on Titanfall 2, though I suppose being overshadowed by BF1 and CoD releases was to be expected.... Titanfall 2 is damn good! The campaign was actually pretty great and one of the fresher feeling FPS campaigns I've played in years, it may be a little short but it was really fun, and I'd happily run through it again. Multiplayer is fast-paced and pretty intense with lots of different custom loadout tweaks to make on your pilot. If anyone tried the Tech Test and was put-off give the full game a try, it's A LOT more polished.

The other great thing about it is that Respawn seems to be listening to player feedback, they've already made a few changes to the multiplayer to improve menus, and they stated they're looking into addressing buffs and nerfs where needed, or tweaking how mechanics work (the map hack perk is a little OP atm).

  9. I'm illustrating an adaptation of the "The Stag and The Hunter" for a children's story book with a collection of folktales... I've never drawn a deer before so I've been doing some practice sketches. I think I'll probably actually stay with the sketched-out style for the final illustrations.

  10. I kinda agree on the Nick Cave album, I liked the overall atmosphere at first but then on closer listening it falls really flat... I know his son died, and that's pretty awful to have to deal with, but it's just not a very interesting album. I probably won't revisit it much.

Also on topic of thread: Had to design a "masthead" for a hypothetical magazine for my publication class, my professor commended my design as not really needing any revisions because it's functional, readable and fits the audience/topic I'm going for, the rest of the class has to work on revisions due this Monday.

  11. Been (very) slowly working my way through the Complete Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy whenever I'm not too burned out on textbooks and assignments, really enjoying it, it's hilarious. Kinda glad I waited so long to read it as I'm now about Arthur Dent's age so it makes it a little more relatable.
