yozer!

basically im too lazy to find somthing, and i know it'll be a jollyer service if i ask you ekt's

what im looking for is a midi hub so i can trigger various midi devices (4 at once) from the 707... as there is only 1 midi out on the 707 so i cant connect my other drum machine and ableton and my esq-1 all up.. also maybe a few dins would be nice as well :)

im also looking for another Tr-707 if any one is selling one!!

They're called splitters and that's about all I know. I'm sure ebay will have some.

Altertatively, there are MIDI patchbays which should let you expand forever and ever. Also on Ebay :)

im not really looking for midi->cv just a hub that has 1 midi in 8 midi out or somthing?

oh ok, fair enough. they've got DIN SYNC 24 on them too though which is useful.

Something like this should do it

...midi thru?

plus you never told us why you can't use thru?

i have nothing which has a midi thru..

tr-707 midi I/O - Din I/O

ESQ-1 midi I/O

Zoom RT123 Midi In

tr-606 Din I/O

Tb-303 Din Out

Yammaha UX16 - I/O

i can use the 707 midi to UX16 - ableton clock - out -> Zoom RT123 but it clocks Double time (which i have to do the track in half time to get it right).. but i still wanna midi up the ESQ with everything

You poor cunt. I've got my entire rig daisy chained. I can even DINSync my 606 off my MSQ100, which has Thru. I just load up a "midi only" template in Sonar and I'm ready to go. Totally analogue but it's just like working with the built in synth.

I was just wondering about midi splitting this morning. Do those midisports work in the way that you could have multiple inputs and a single output? Sorry, very little midi experience. I've got a monophonic synth, that has 5 separate independent synths running on 5 midi channels. I thought it might be nice to try duplicating a synth and using 2 keyboards to control it, for just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle bit of polyphony. It has midi in/out/thru. Thoughts?

[sorry if this counts as hijack!]

You want the merge

your probably better off getting a midisport 2x4 like mrx... and some kinda midi sync24 convertor

2x4 connected (usb) to ablive would let 707 and esq1 have separate i/o - use them to sync or control other midi kit/each other

youd have 2 outs left, for the zoom (does that have midi controlability?) and room for a.n.other plus your yamaha as extra (:

i got one of those 2x4s and they are pretty handy, can be used standalone as a 2 input thru box (it doesnt work for me tho)

i also got this mad sync24/midi thru box combo (http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/1994_articles/may94/widgets.html)

got it for 15 quid of ebay... 1 midi in x 8 midi thru + 1 x sync24 out

i send a midi clock to that and sync my mc202 (and anything else that only needs midi clock)

does the tb303 not have sync in? i heard if you push the sync cable half in you get input (or is that 606, maybe only sync 2x303...or maybe bullshit :undecided: )

the zoom tr123 just has midi clock in thats all..

and the 303 is just sync IN the 606 has a switch which lets you change the sync to input or output.

basically what i want/need to do is

TR-707

(midi clock) -> ableton -> esq1 -> zoom -> Ableton

(dsync) -> 606 -> 303

though to be honest i rarely use ableton and hardware to make tracks with anyway (the latency isnt 100% perfect and it sound crap).. its just mostly something i use when i play live..

as i dont take my esq1 gigging (way too heavy) i can always use the ux16 output into my zoom which solves the problem!

i just been looking at the 2x4 midisport usb midi hub - looks really nice, tell me though would latency be better/worse then the yamaha ux16?

Sorry if that was a smidge terse. Here are some mergers.

Anyone ever tried using a midi-merger like this to combine SysEx commands from one machine and normal MIDI note commands from another machine?

like merge these:

in1: note output from my computer's sequencer program

in2: sysex commands coming from novation remote controller

and out to my Juno-106 (whose knobs/parameters can only be controlled via SysEx)

btw, do you know any good Juno 106 controlling softwares? I'm looking for one to teach my hw controller the sysex

the controller does have in/out/thru, but that won't add the computer's message and the SysEx together

and no i don't have any software editor for my Juno, i was just about to make a template for controlling it on my Remote Zero SL

haha, yeh inputs-outputs, im sure it might have been sync ouptut on the 303 with cable half in/out... cant remember, was wrecked at the time :whistling:

i think the latency is caused by slow audio, the midi gets shoved back so its in time... i reckon your latency would be identical...

try using a midi-only bit of software and see if it improves (even export midi file and play thru media player/winamp?)... are you using asio4all? what is your latency?

using a 2x4 and some kinda midi-sync24 box you could choose between sync from 707, esq1 sequencer or comp and also choose where sync/midi

was going, without having to repatch any midi leads

things would change tho if you wanted to do it without the laptop....

laptop <-> 2x4 usb

707 <-> 2x4 input/output 1

esq1 <-> 2x4 input/output 2

then two outputs to send to sync24 and zoom, this setup would need a comp to run it, so youd need to get acceptable latency first....

i would use cubase to setup sync in/out routings, just like a midi patchbay

ableton live is cool for this too, i use live5, live4 was kinda limited for midi stuff

nice, the sync24 is no problem because i have a din splitter which does the job 707-303/606

untill i get a trbigboy i'll be safe!

why dont you try the computer as the merge box?

multiple ins monitored and mixed thru software to the computers multiple outs.... anything goes anywhere all the time

what kind of midi interface do you have? what software do you have? cubase and ableton live can do this for you

you might be able to merge midi now without having to spend any cash :rolleyes:

i often use cubase to take incoming midi from multiple controllers and send to the a-station

notes from usb keyboard, midi controller info from control freak and midi info from the synths

own front panel passed thru cubase ...(i can record/edit the front panel tweaks)
