man survives horseshoe falls

So a guy tried killing himself today by jumping over the Horseshoe Falls in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The Horsehoe is the largest of the three waterfalls, but is the only one that has no rocks at the bottom of it. He was described as a "chubby man wearing a sweat suite ". The force of the waterfall ripped off all of his clothing, and they used a helicopter to create a current that would push him to shore.

Only 3 people have survived, both coming out relatively intact I think. The one guy who supposedly survived is believed to have faked the ordeal. He somehow managed to pull himself to shore, even though the current at the bottom is insane. And it didn't rip off his clothing.

Only way I think you can survive is if the force propels you over and away, as if you get stuck underneath, you are fucked.

Yeah, I heard what usually kills people is the pressure of the water once they're under the falls. They never make it up for a breath. The first person to survive the falls was a woman in a barrel padded with pillows. Crazy.

They broke out in laughter again,

His lip beaded with sweat as they strapped him in,

And he stood by and waited to be called.

The talk was of times that had gone by

And the quantity and quality of women they lie.

His eyes welled with wet and his mouth had gone dry.

As he stood by and waited to be called.

He stood by and waited to be called.

He stood by and waited like the others before

For his turn to go over the falls.

He got up and tried it again.

For lack of persistence is surely a sin.

As he stood by and waited to be called,

He looked to the lightning with glee

And admired his vessel for its symmetry,

Feeling twelve units shy of a bachelors degree.

As he stood by and waited to be called.

He stood by and waited to be called.

He stood by and waited like the others before

For his turn to go over the falls.

I first read that as "a chubby man wearing a wet suite" and I was like.....

Why bother with the wet suite?

Then I reread it and was like.... ohhhh.

yeah. beneath the Horseshoe falls is a sort of trench that is as deep as the Niagara Gorge is high, or something similar. People who jump over generally get trapped under that and just drown/get pummeled to death.

That same lady is buried in a cemetery a few blocks from my house, btw.
