Team Doyobi - Orch V

Recommended Posts

bought orch v last night (the dig version with the extra track)... maybe a little more straightahead and less weirdly psychedelic. i like the upbeat stuff too though - it's just less singular i guess. plastic vampires is ridiculous and great at the same time.

love that peppy little beat re-dimensional space time battles starts with.

a new(?) track with video i found on youtube. it's weird, i didn't really grow up playing games but i've always been into that weird limbo feeling things like this give me. this totally inert airless world with endless horizons.

maybe that guy who knows about this new record label can say if this is going to be on the other EP that was meant to come out?

I think Orch.V works better without Re-dimensioning (i.e. as on the vinyl version), though it's not a bad track. Skylight Red Omega has to be one of the most epic tracks of the year and is much more worthy of ending the album.

Overall, this album is a break from their previous releases. Their past works have always had a great sound palette, but the compositions seemed to be disjoint and meandering. Here they clearly put more effort into structuring the songs, giving the album a much tighter feel.

I've had this album in constant rotation since it came out, and it never seems to get old. it's definitely in the top 5 releases of last year, and it marks a huge step up from Team Doyobi. I'm really looking forward to their next album!
