  1. The first tape was good, but I regret paying for the whole series up front.
  2. Good news! The first one is really good, some of his best work along these lines.
  3. Really liking the Dublin set, especially the part around 13:00. It's amazing that they can put this together live.
  4. Yeah, I see that I missed the mailing list thread completely. Mods can get rid of this one if they want... then again, maybe this release does deserve it's own thread.

https://autechre.bleepstores.com/ Looks promising. What do you think?
  6. Dammit, I've had a ridiculously busy summer... excited to finally have time to look into music releases for the past several months, and I find this amazing record that has sold out already :(
  7. There is so much music here, I'm completely overwhelmed. There are immediate standouts - like the Cottage tracks, Lannerlush, Make a Baby, With the Family - but I bet some of the other ones are growers. I have no idea how to approach such a huge volume of music.
  8. You did a great job articulating why Campfire Headphase and, to a lesser extent, Tomorrow's Harvest don't hit the same heights as their previous work. The great thing about their previous work is their ability to convey nostalgia with a dark undercurrent.... it was the musical equivalent of thinking back on positive childhood memories as an adult and realizing that the situations might not have been so positive. Songs like Twoism also conveyed a sense of wonderment... there was an honesty to the music that is lacking in later works. Which isn't to say that Campfire or Harvest are bad albums - they're very good - but they are missing that magic of earlier releases.
  9. Wow, just discovered this artist. Awesome! Reminds me of Monolith's best stuff.
  10. I was skeptical about this one before it came out... Autechre seemed to be losing some quality control over the last five or so years. Oversteps was awesome, but Quaristice was subpar and Move of Ten is arguably their weakest release. A 2 hour album sounded like another Quaristice-style experiment destined for failure. Having said that, this album completely surprised me. It has a very Gescom-y vibe in spots, especially on recks on, cloudline (which seems to use samples off of Skull Snap) and deco Loc (is that cut-up voice just before 4:00 saying "Gescom"?). bladelores and YJY UX are two of their best tracks ever. I'm really looking forward to giving this one lots of repeat listens.
  11. Supposedly there's more on the way (also a live show) according to the Skam website: New Mr 76ix > Team Doyobi > VHS Head > & a surprise or two are all in motion for the near future..... ;) Wonder what the surprise is...
  12. something a little more modern:
  13. It's always great to see people getting interested in classical music. The first composer I got into was Khachaturian, through his solo piano music. His music is accessible and rhythmically interesting. Last movement of his violin concerto: Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Prokofiev. The 1st movement of the 2nd piano concerto is incredibly intense (inspired by the suicide of a close friend, it's also considered to have the most difficult piano solo in the standard repertoire): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yayzy_JOSUs (the video contains first and second movements)
