All new to me.

Had caught one or two epsiodes of The Thick of It recently and wondered where was it all these years, someone said it's had 3 or 4 series.

And just saw In the Loop the other night. Best film I've seen in a very long time.

Any fans out there?

Yep, one of my favourite things to point my eyeballs at. I think they're up to series 3 so far. The episode in the radio station absolutely destroyed me.

Truly one of the finest comedies of all time. Certainly the most intense!

(Fun fact: I checked out this show because Awepittance has Malcolm on his avatar and I was curious into what about it would make an American appreciate it!)

Do you have to get to know the characters or something, whenever i've seen a posted clip by someone attempted to demonstrate the positive qualities of the series. It has never given me anything that I could be bothered digesting.

ps - i really wanted to like it as well cause it's created by armando iannucci.

I think so. It's not easily 'accessible' as such, it just kind of drops you in the situation so clips never really do it justice. Most of the comedy is derived from the outlandish characters and their interactions, I think it's a bit Alan Partridge-esque in that regard. Also I think it's funnier on repeat viewings, give the first series a chance!

There are '3' series but the first 2 are only 3 episodes each, so it's basically 2 series of 6 episodes plus the 2 specials.

First series is 6 episodes.

Second is two hour long specials plus a 20 minute extra.

Third series is 8 episodes.

Yeah the DVD was originally sold as 'the complete first and second series' for some reason I seem to remember, then they released a DVD of the specials. But you're right about the last season Obel, I forgot it was 8 episodes.

The characters are just too funny. I liked Jamie a lot but I can see why Iannucci axed him, he is too similar to Malcolm... but in practice it was fucking hilarious having him and Malcolm in there together. I can't wait to see more of Cal 'The Fucker' Richards. Looks like a much better character than the minister that guy played in In The Loop.

"This used to be a green and pleasant land. Now it's the colour of the fucking BBC weather map. It looks like anaemic dogshit."

Ah, wasn't trying to correct you like a prick!

Jamie is fucking awesome, I don't care that they were similar, I just love how they play off each other. His unrelenting hostility is endlessly hilarious!

Not sure about The Fucker though, I think since In The Loop he's just too timid in my mind.

I reckon you have to take The Fucker on his own terms. I think Iannucci kind of played on the fact that many of us will have known him as the hapless minister from In The Loop, and I get the feeling from his cameo at the end of the series that deep down he's very 'Malchievellian'. Stuart is funny in his own right but the Opposition is clearly missing a misanthropic character like Malcolm.

love this show and the movie, its like a parody of The West Wing (US show), and how completely the opposite of standup, rigid individuals politicians are, as in reality, they are mostly loud cursing wankers.

I recommend the movie to everyone in the US I know, I think this and Darkplace can be appreciated worldwide.

Also, i fucking love Jamie.

*SHUT IT, LOVE ACTUALLY!*

*HOW CAN YOU LISTEN TO THIS SHIT? ITS ALL FUCKING VOWELS!*

those lines had me almost in tears.

I love how the only way you can tell who is Tory and who is Labour is by knowing who's actually in power at the time. They behave identically. If anything, the Tories are more touchy feeley...

I just love the sheer contempt Tucker has.

Ambassador, with your big bald head you are spoiling us.
