moments to note:

:25 - just the emotion exhibited here is remarkable.

:52 - this part is fantastic. the surprise on his face when the hat opens up... such precision of demeanor.

this has earned repeat viewings. the man has a whole catalogue of likely very useful drum lessons.

Yeah, he's a monster. Me and my roommates just spent an evening listening to him. I had no idea he existed and now I'm a glad that I do.

sidestick + ghost notes with his fingers... :emotawesomepm9:

it's depressing that i will never be a good enough drummer to play any of his patterns well, including the purdie shuffle.

Purdie is a machine of R&B.

got to see him live and was impressive but the other two members of his trio were fucking impossible to deal with. An old fish of an organ player and a terrible guitar player who thought he could sing 'what's going on' ruined the concert for me.

Mike Clark is better. As the youtube guy calls them: God's rhythm section

My favorite Purdie youtube quote is something like "Don't worry about those ghost notes! They're just rebound. . . to make it sooooound! and feeeeeeel! GOOOOOOOOOOOD. YEAH! Haha, I like that."

Basically: he's a super awesome human being, A+

Edit: lol, here 'tis.

seeing how easily he destroys the art of drumming is fucking amazing. he is so calm, collected. fucking beautiful.

his whole "i'm going to hit 8 different drums in 3 seconds and grin like it ain't no thang" attitude is what i want.
