England have a strong squad. We will do well.

The only fail is not including Bobby Zamora, he can do everything Heskey can..but score goals. Also I'm confused why Scholes dosn't want to play international football, he would fit in well.

The inclusion of that fucktard Jamie Carragher is disgusting.

He quit England because he thought he deserved to be in the first team. He's mediocre at best, and a cunt on the pitch. So he quit, and now that we've got a reasonably shot at the World Cup he wants back in.

He even once stated that he'd be upset to miss a penalty for England, but devastated to miss one for Liverpool.

Ledley King and Sol Campbell may not be as spring as Carragher, but they're far better defenders and far more important personalities to have in the camp.

If Capello's looking for a sub right-back I wish he'd consider Micah Richards (despite having a poor season he still has massive potential and will play for England again in the future) or even, God forbid, Gary Neville. He's also a cunt, but he's got experience out the arse.

Here's the team I'd pick (not limited to the initial 30, so some almost certainly won't be included):

Green, James, Hart

A. Cole, Terry, Ferdinand, Johnson, King, Campbell, Baines, Richards

Gerrard, Lampard, J. Cole, Milner, Huddlestone, Walcott, Carrick, Lennon, Young

Crouch, Defoe, Rooney

I think we could substitute a striker if we included both Young and Walcott as both could be deployed as make-shift nuisances if the worst happened.

I don't mind Heskey though. He's been useless for Villa this season so probably doesn't deserve a place, but he's been very important in qualifying and would be missed nevertheless.

Barry may well be fit just in time. Carragher aint too bad as he can play both centre and right back, and less likely to be caught out of position than Glen Johnson (great going forward don't get me wrong, but he makes alot of mistakes, at International level anyway)

Good to see Huddlestone in there, and Adam Johnson who's been brilliant recently, but interesting Ashley Young doesn't get a mention.

*edit @ Gary: Micah has been well too inconsistent at club level anyway, big gamble but if he was in the squad it could pay off

I agree that Johnson is poor defensively. It's a strange turn-around that our weakest position is no longer left-back, but right-back.

Carragher quit international football. It'd be silly to include him, but Capello's clearly making a point by putting him in this provisional squad.

I'm confident Richards will still become an England regular. The role of England's right-back may have to change to accommodate him, but I think he's got the potential to be a great player.

Here's hoping he leaves City and comes to Arsenal finally.

I was looking for a Fantasy World Cup a couple of months ago. I assumed there'd be something on the official site by now, or maybe via McDonald's, but alas.

I'm in if anyone finds a decent one though. Something more of a sweepstakes, in which you can pick results and players at different stages and then an overall special-team.

My uncle used to run one using Excel, but I don't think he's up for it this summer.

Some day yeah, Micah just needs to be coached properly. Alot of City fans don't think he's got the positional sense to be an effective RB, so he could well go on to be a brilliant CB given half a chance

Wenger could've probably turned him into a decent midfielder if he'd got him a couple of seasons ago.

Ive never unerstood all the Heskey hate, the weight of his passes and general hold up play make it easy for finishers. If i was English, i wouldnt want Carragher anywhere near my team.

The main thing we need is Gerrard and Rooney playing well together. Everything else should fall into place. As long as everyone else is solid and Lampard can chip in with the odd goal.....

yes but then you have a history of being rabid don't you?

Anyway, he's past his best that much is obvious.
