[Design suggestion] Different way of embedding youtube videos in posts

So i was creating a post a while ago, with just two yt videos, but was thinking how big the post gets, and only with two. Then I thought of those threads that get filled with youtube videos and sometimes it can get really messy because the thumbnails are so big. What if we could have a system similar to facebook, where the video appears as a small thumbnail, with the respective title, and it gets bigger if played by a user?

In the modern screen size usage I don't think the post gets too big with just two videos. It doesn't seem necessary in most cases.

with two it doesn't. But some threads have posts full of youtube videos, and the thumbnail has the same size as that of the yt website. just saying...

I actually think it's a good idea to have those thumbnail youtube. Another example would be those at discogs. Most of the time it's about the music anyways, so why bother with normal sized footage?

Lots of sites let you do...

[ flash = height , width ] video url [ / flash ]

It's annoying though cuz people put it at flash=1,1 and then it's like 1 pixel big and they make it autoplay so you can never find out who's doing it without checking page elements and then it's too late

Let's check if that works here...

(nope it didn't work)

Do you think this is a democracy? You can't just blurt out ideas and suggestions like this. Thanks, dick, you've put us all in jeopardy.

I think this is a really good idea. Most of the threads in Music Discussion are so clustered up with YouTube videos that it's hard to scroll properly. It's a real load on my computer to have to sift through a page with 30+ embedded videos in it.

I don't think the size of the video is something I can control (at least not easily), and honestly have never had issues with many YT videos on one page. Perhaps it's time to increase your screen resolution and/or get a faster PC.

Another thing you could try is removing Flash and use an HTML5 capable browser, then all YT content would load via the HTML5 version of their player.

This is a good point. Use HTML5.

YouTubes do not display well in watmm on the iPhone:

They hang off the right edge and cause a lot of inadvertent horizontal scrolling when trying to navigate a thread.

Would be cool if max-width could be set to 320 for videos.
