jchgf
http://soundcloud.com/jchgf/sets/sbb11-mastering-exercise These are three projects I started a few months ago. I'd like to polish them up, at the very least in the mixing and mastering departments. Any suggestions?
zkom
Nice track. Liked especially the little break at 2:30. Mixing wise, maybe the hihats in the first part are a bit upfront and the bass is too subtle when I'm listening with headphones. Don't know how this sounds on speakers though. tokn
Very nice atmospheric stuff. Something more could happen, but it actually works out this way for me. The third track has some weird tones in it, which I would take out. The first track has a problem which I notice in a lot of tracks from me as well: The bass is a bit muddy and atonal and the higher tones are very clear and tonal, which sometimes sounds like slighty off harmonic and wrong. Maybe it's just my ears, but check it again with that in mind. By the way, you should notice that you only display your first track here!
jchgf
Thanks for the comments, I will pay attention to these aspects. I have trouble coming up with good bass (and beat) tracks, this area falls into my musical blind spot, I'll keep that in mind and work on improving that. Also, I should definitely spend some time mixing with monitors instead of headphones. I live with a roommate, so headphones is my default listening mode at the computer. Hehe, thanks Tokn. I linked to a set of 3 tracks by laziness, I thought it would be OK. I don't understand the relevence of the wikipedia link, though.
