luke viia
just wanted to share this project that came to my attention today: part of the street muse project you can get the album here: http://streetmuse.bandcamp.com/album/field-recordings-from-kenya and learn more about the trip here: http://streetmuseproject.tumblr.com/ hope somebody else digs this as much as i do. white guy goes to kenya isn't the best idea for an album but it looks like a lot of good times were had and the music is actually pretty interesting. Salvatorin
this looks cool. I've loved every time I've been able to play or learn from african musicians. It's undeniable that music and rhythm just flows much more naturally from them, western prudishness makes everyone self conscious, there music and dance are like living and breathing. luke viia
lol yeah, i know plenty of americans who refuse to even try to make music because they think they'll be bad at it (wtf). prudishness is something a lot of us share. here's a longer version of the jam from around 1:00 in the first video (+ a conversation about music): http://vimeo.com/59958591 should also mention that gull is (currently?) on a US tour w/ two of the dudes they met in kenya, they'd be fun to go see and hang out with
