I am another HD280 user. Don't think I can add much that anyone hasn't already said. Just to say that I've had them a little over a year and haven't had any technical or wear issues.

The other day I left the house to go walk and take pictures of things. Spotify on my phone started weirdly acting up on the way to the trail I was going to. It would pause, I would unpause, then a few seconds later it would do it again. Then it even started skipping to different tracks in my playlist, and pausing again, etc. This continued for a little while. So I closed the app, restarted, and it worked smoothly after that. This confused me but I went about my day.
Later in the day I get back to my house, walk in my room and my cat is on top of my monitor (speaker), next to my laptop. My laptop is open, which I never do because said cat likes to lay on it. And then I immediately have an AHA moment. My cat was trying to play chaos DJ with my music while I was miles away from my home. I left Spotify open and prominent on the laptop, sure enough.
Also there were like 4 programs open that I never use and the whole display was oriented sideways. Bad cat.

too many new shows & time off = The Sopranos
S02 with Big Pussy, Richie Aprile's "Manson Lamps" & the Bevilaqua (sp?) kid incident, s03 with Ralphie, Aprile Jnr, all while Uncle Jnr, Sil, Paulie Walnuts & the Soprano clan bicker & argue (is this an east-coast tradition btw?)
5 or 6th repeat, still tremendous, thank you merka
The dream-sequence-heavy finale of Season 2 ("Funhouse") is probably my favorite episode of The Sopranos and one of my favorite episodes of anything. Tony's surreal dreams, with Big Pussy being the fish and the little car and toilet paper, are the best. Really opened my eyes to a certain kind of storytelling when I originally saw it.

Eating the dog after a piss poor attempt to bury it or burn it. Not exact quote but "This is the line Jeremy. I will not dig in the cold hard ground with my bare hands for you." God, it's time for a rewatch.

Catching up and viewing the last few pages of this thread has been a pleasure.

No, real audiophiles get something that can change colors with the music
-
Yeah and I got them in 2015, right before the company change it seems.

Well, they are selling in Wal Mart now. That's never a good omen for quality conrol.

actually jbl's lsr305 and the bigger lsr308 monitors are probably the best speakers for their price ever produced, they come very close to perfection and only cost a few hundred bucks.
I have the 305s and they are one of the best purchases I've made. I'm no audiophile or anything but yeah, the response seems incredibly even over the entire spectrum. Random bass notes don't boom while others disappear. Mids and highs are present and meaty. They don't sound clinical either. I don't know if I'd call them warm, but maybe neutral. Not warm or "cold". They are in my computer/sometimes music making room. I don't like them being on the desk up against the wall/corner, but tight on space. Want them on stands behind the desk one day.
I have Sony SS-F5000P Towers in the living room and some random early 2000's receiver I bought used for $20 (Techwood brand). Bassier and warmer than the JBL's. More of a pleasure to listen to SOMETIMES than the monitors. Better for the larger room too, probably. Sony doesn't get a lot of love for their audio equipment but for $140 almost ten years ago, these have been very good to me.
Big believer in stereo. Small satellites with a subwoofer can be good, but there can be huge, noticeable holes in the sound too. And surround is awful for music. Not to be a snob. I'm pretty poor and had to save up to just get the JBLs.

Rewatching King of the Hill because it was recently added to Hulu. Haven't seen it in almost ten years and it's more subtle and absurd than I remember. Funny, timeless, and solid all around.
Finally got around to watching Ozark. The first season built up nicely to the last 2 episodes and it was flirting with greatness at that point. Kind of abruptly lost interest during the first few eps of S2. Political intrigue just isn't my thing I guess. Or maybe our absolute shitshow of a government is just souring any and all things related to politics for me. I dunno. Might unenthusiastically pick it back up in hopes that it gets better.

Just caught up on last 3 pages.
I love this thread muchly.

I thought the scene in the hospital room was contrived, but loved the rest of the episode.

The first explicitly Breaking Bad era scene was done very well. All of episode 5 was pretty great.

Man, that was brutally cold of Jimmy at the end. And it still leaves a lot up for interpretation. Is he in denial or shock? Is he happy that the guilt and blame can go to Hamlin instead of himself? Or is he just following his brother's advice to not feel remorse for the shitty things he does?
-
Maybe the 5th season will spend more time in the post Breaking Bad era with Gene. That could potentially be very fascinating.
