  1. How do you know they are addicts?

because they were ordering from a site called sheep

but seriously: that site had so many problems and people were warned multiple times that something dodgy was happening because the admins never fixed problems and always seemed too lapse in addressing issues people complained about. on top of that, people couldn't withdraw funds for more than 2 weeks but kept placing orders

this has been a favorite of mine for a while. as a sleazy b-movie, it's perfect. the opening scene is classic: valentine demy's boyfriend pleads with her not to betray him as she goes off to richmond virginia to enroll in dance school. the rest of the movie is pretty much how she fucks and falls in love with the first guy that stalks her at a bowling alley. obviously she must've not given two shits about that lunkhead boyfriend. it's also got a random appearance from gay porn movie dude jeff stryker as.. a guy in the dance class.

but some of my favorite scenes are the dance sequences like this bit of perfection right here

  3. Kanye: "I am Warhol. I am the No. 1 most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare in the flesh. Walt Disney. Nike. Google. Now, who's going to be the Medici family and stand up and let me create more? Or do you want to marginalize me?"

i believe everyone should watch this documentary- especially if you've never seen this documentary- if anything, just because you'd never believe people like this still exist. it does get a little repetitive after a while, only because their lifestyle is all about going nowhere but the complete bottom of the barrell (and that's if you consider the top being a guest on the jerry springer show)

this documentary is a good example of a major problem faced in this country (the united states). 1 kid shoots another kid because he's gay (actually, he's more a transsexual that hasn't transitioned). turns out the gay boy had a crush on the kid that killed him and asked him to be his valentine- something that embarrassed and angered the other kid so much he decided to execute him.

the more the documentary digs, the more it discovers. in the end, everyone is getting a tattoo either of the murdered kid, or the killer.

strange story here. a woman with her son and 3 nieces in the car, drives down the highway on the wrong side, plows into 1 car that then plows into more cars. 8 people die including her. son survives. in her system, they discover she had the equivalent of 10 alcoholic drinks and thc- but there is surveillance footage of her at a store right before the accident and she looks stone sober. also, her family swears she'd never drink and drive and witnesses say she was driving in a perfect straight line.

    so.... da fack?

loved this documentary. really felt bad for the girls. when they were being led to the court, i kept hoping they'd do their 'kissing a cop' performance. also, i have to say i appreciated the human biology performance. in fact, i think someone should make an entire documentary focusing on that particular art show

everyone was and still is raving about this documentary but i don't get it. it's pretty remarkable the filmmakers got a hold of warlords willing to talk and re-enact their murders on camera, and even more impressive how much "interesting" footage they got, but beyond that i found myself not really giving a shit. does that make me a bad person?

i also felt like some of the stuff they were talking about was a little embellished. opening scene was mindblowing though

  9. Every come across an album by complete chance you fall in love with that seems to be unthinkably unknown and obscure. I'm having that experience with this album.

yup. this has happened to me quite a number of times. one of the first albums i remember discovering (and falling in love with) through a chance purchase was suba's sao paulo confessions. i know it's happened again more recently but i can't remember the album right now

gatekeeper - young chronos: these guys released their latest ep as a free torrent on tpb. i heard a clip of their last effort and disliked it. i heard this ep and disliked it. i guess they've abandoned the whole cinematic electronic music angle and now make some kind of video game music from the late 80s. does anyone actually enjoy that?

this movie should be renamed first world problems. seriously- it's a bad version of thirteen complete with "pass the camera to the guy having a seizure" every time "a party scene" was happening. was unable to finish it. i only watched it just so i could see sharon lawrence :cerious:

i'm a big fan of boyd rice so i've been meaning to see this for a while, but honestly, it was terrible. you can tell the director (and producer) were major rice fanboys than filmmakers as the entire thing sounds like his monologues (and basically, an excuse to have him shiling his philosophies).

there are however a couple of good scenes- particularly where his gf (on the cover) plays a dom and has some lappy eat her poop from the floor while boyd looks on grinning like a dog. also- talk about minimal sets. everyone in this film lives in a house with 1 chair, 1 table a tv and a phone on the floor. that's it. i guess the production designer wasn't a big fan of boyd rice then

the crying princess - 78rpm records from burma: music from burma spanning the years 1909-1960 and sounding incredibly vintage and field recorded with lots of hiss (to be expected). it's compiled by a guy who also spent a couple of months recording grasshoppers making noise before a mating ritual.

as far as the music is concerned: when caretaker runs out of ballroom music to loop, someone hype his ass to this stuff as 80% of the job is already done for him. all he has to do is add gloomy titles and refuse to shilling the stuff on itunes and he's back in business

scattered melodies: korean kayagum sanjo from 78rpm records: i like this one a little more than the above although- seriously, this is ancient shit. most of these sanjo "songs" sound like someone trying to find a rhythm or tune (actually it says on the back it's improvised) as they pluck away a bouncing, choppy twang on a traditional zither-like instrument. it has a rather haunting quality because of how relentless it is: almost like the musician just isn't going to give up until they find the right tune and the recording is this torture device that keeps them plucking along.

after a while i get the feeling these guys aren't trying to get a tune going but rather create an atmosphere and illuminate it with this constant stream of melody in the background.

i don't think caretaker will want to touch this one
