ben affleck goes to rescue a bunch of argumentative consolate workers in iran during a crisis under the pretex of being a film producer. nice use of shaky cam and medium wide close-up because this is intense you know?

    6 out 10 hostages

  2. change the beat: the celluloid records story 1980-1987: a massive compilation of the french early hiphop/new wave/boogie label celluloid, run as a vanity project by the guy in charge of BYG and bill laswell.

what we have here is a mixture of old school breaks, funk, synth wave and electronic disco jam rap with people like fab five freddy, grandmixer d st, bongostars and manu di bango making an appearance (albiet most of these tracks are remixes or b-sides of some kind from rare 45s).

if you're into this sort of thing, you'll get A LOT of entertainment out of this. also comes packed with all the information about this scene that one can possibly hope to have without "having been there"

  3. cherrystones - red nails: this sounds a lot like something the gaslamp killer would make (especially queen bee) except this has more of an electronic pedigree behind some of the song influences (molecular battler for example is basically early analog power electronics and the title track slightly resembles early non or einsturzende neubauten on a more hiphop tip). definitely a banger

weird movie that takes full advantage of robert z'dar's chin to sketch a messy plot about a... maniac cop.

this film is about an ex-cop turned serial killer who goes after the (ny)police department because they screwed him over (particularly the police commissionar) and is currently stalking the city killing both innocent citizens and cops in an attempt to clear his name

    any of this sound familiar?

an eye candy hall of fame classic that boasts the 3 members of the all century team: the ever-so-lovely brinke stevens, the majestic beauty of michelle bauer, and the sultry linnea quigley. this film set the standards of how b-movies are rated.

  6. World on a wire - One of the most interesting films i've ever seen in my life, definitely made it into my favorite films list. 10/10

yeah- one of my favorite sci-fi films. it was remade as the thirteenth floor

another classic piece of filmmaking. has this great part where the camera pans mid-scene to reveal brinke stevens cracking her whip for no apparent reason. yummy

yup- watched this over the course of about 8hrs thanks to having a bunch of people over and being drunk since 4pm (it's now 1am). i liked the documentary but ended up staying indifferent to the 3 guys (especially the ranting-drunk nerd @ the bar)

  8. is that the one where they covered whitehouse songs? that was a fantastic record. i also loved that they tackled some stockhausen material but i'm not sure how much they followed his instructions for preparation (like not sleeping or eating for 3 days or whatever it was)

  9. Enter the Void - 8.5/10 - want to give it 9, but somethings stopping me - enjoyed it immensely but perhaps it just over stayed its welcome, over used some of its effects (which on first viewings were amazing, but once repeated start to lose their power), The first hour is great, but starts to slip after that, would have been almost perfect had it been as short and tight as Irreversible.

Really inspiring film making tho, A+ for effort!

Tales from the Crypt, and lots of it.

just watched the one with joe pesci and the twins. lol great one

wtf? i watched that one about 3 days ago too. i mentioned to my gf that they looked like thinner-yellow-teethed versions of julia roberts. are you hiding out @ my place?

    we're.... twins.

i see what you did there

long, dense and complex. not sure where this is going but it's going to take me forever. it's got a bomb, a guy getting a hardon when the bomb goes off, and a guy trying to figure out something to do with bombs. seriously- wtf?

  12. surprised how so many people here feel so negatively towards casino. i actually really like it (even though i read the book before i watched the movie). it's not a great movie, but you guys are making it sound like a spike lee joint :emotawesomepm9:

p.s. i have a major thing for sharon stone
