MHTRTC came out 25 years ago. At some point, new generations of artists are going to pop up and reveal boc’s influence in their own music. That’s a good thing in my opinion. It’s not lthe same as someone aping them while they were still active (early Tycho).
I remember liking new rock bands in the 90s and my dad saying things like “they’re just ripping off zeppelin.” At some point whatever. Don’t be techno dads.- 4

For everyone saying it’s a rip off, I think you’re missing the point. I’d say it’s a purposeful nod. If you listen to the album start to finish, it’s pretty clearly a nod to lots of different warp influences. See below.
But the album progress over time hitting different eras. Boc is the biggest influence but it’s not them alone. These guys were already successful doing more mainstream stuff. Then they took a 10 year break and came back with this. I think it’s brilliant.

I really like the first one, sounds very mhtrtc lovely editing. The others sound way too much like rip-offs.
I’d encourage you to listen to the whole album. It follows a particular path and the tracks progress.

This album just came out a few weeks ago and it is one of the best things I’ve heard in ages. It’s definitely an ode to 90s era Warp and is HEAVILY influenced by boc. Check it.

I put the 303 on ice for this one. I mean it’s still in there, but in a support role.

Goddamn these synths are lush. The vocal would benefit from being set apart a bit from everything else in the mix. It seems buried a bit. But the track itself is really lush.

I’ve loved your stuff since Vatican Nites. But this might be some of the best stuff you done, man. Top work. I loved the stuff you did for Balkan Vinyl too.

Thanks for listening and the feedback! Everyone wants their track to be heard, but it can sometimes be tough to find feedback, good or bad. I'm guilty of listening and not responding myself at times.
I typically will leave feedback if I have anything nice to say. I might not love a track, but if some part of it seems promising, I’ll comment on that part and try to be encouraging about the rest. If I think something is bad, I will listen without commenting. I know what it’s like to suck. And people should be allowed to suck and keep trying without having their confidence crushed. Putting your tracks out there is like putting out a small part of yourself for others to see. I try to honor that vulnerability.
But not an issue here because this track is great!

Put together an album with some recent tracks. These represent a pretty thorough shift in workflow for me, and as such they fit together quite snugly Clocking in at 36 minutes it's a respectable mini-album or maybe just an EP.
Listening to this now. Through the first few tracks, excellent sound design. The synth on Volcanic activity is BOC reminiscent ... it has a beautiful, warped wobble tone to it that tugs at some part of me. Likewise, I really like the melodies in Mirai. This is a style that feels familar but is hard to place. Possibly video game music. Videocomte is similar. I really like the sparse production.

I finally found time away from work and Elden Ring to make and post a new track!
Yeah this is pretty great. The breakbeats are dope and evolve nicely. And that sample of what sounds like a conversation is really well placed in the mix. Simple but sweet basslines too. Nice track.

Oops. Also, this new Nevermen remix dropped 1998 days after the last one. MHTRTC reference?
Could very well be considering this song samples Open The Light. This Nevermen album came out like five years ago. Why release a remix now? And on that date. Unless their hinting at something? This is the kind of shit that they do so you never know.

Yeah banging is the word I would use too. That reggae/dub sample and the synth that follows it are pretty epic. I’d love to hear that stabby synth be a little more up in my face. The girl moaning is a good sample too. Pretty old school house thing to do which is cool.
Principles of Geometry- This album is like a love letter to BOC

Yikes. That’s a pretty elitist thing to say. I’m sure there are jazz and classical fans who would say the same thing about the music you love. Every genre of music is equally capable of expression. It’s just the subjective act of listeners making value judgments that shapes how we think about it
But either way, I’m not here to aggressively argue that my opinion is more correct than yours. I think you’re wrong but have no desire to persuade you and am already bored by it.
