The chords that fade out the end of Abundance sound like BOC.

Footwork? Ha. This is on a complete other level.
hipster microgenre
That's a dismissive way to put it. I'm from Chicago and some of the communities here are completely consumed by footwork. It's not my music but for some people it's pervasive throughout their culture -- far from hipster fodder.

Guess I’ll be listening to the EP starting from 1st 44, skipping T69 because durichroma is so much better. It is a 5 track EP for me.
Yeah same

thanks a bunch, but not quite what I'm asking
go to the aphex twin warp net dude.I want to listen to durichroma! It's too bad that I only bought the ep twice! Anyone can help?
Just buy the track you cum sock. It’s 1.35 for the mp3.

I'm convinced this forum is has a lot of elitist spergs who can't/don't know how to dance, so they shun anything that people would dance to in a club because it's "too simplistic/too repetetive." Learn to feel a groove m8. Its not bad to be repetitive. Jesus Christ. I know idm is complex and stuff but still, not everything has to be complex to be good music. And just because you don't get hip hop/low income/ethnic minority/mainstream music culture doesn't mean the tracks don't slam, you just think you're above it probably because you feel alienated by it culturally. I'm talking about the response to that DJ Nate track specifically...
I will always hate a song that has the same line repeated 10 thousand times and don’t give a fuck about how tapped in to somebody else’s culture you think you are. Go fuck your enlightened self.
I from the south side of Chicago, by the way. But I’m really impressed by how open minded you are in whatever crevice of hell youre typing from.

The track makes a compelling point that all your hate does is fuel his motivation. You can hear it from 00:00 to around 2:44
I can't deny that he certainly does make the point that haters are his motivation. His argument is clear and unyielding. And if you weren't convinced after the first 20 times you hear that sample, the next 700 repetitions are there to drive the argument home. Compelling, indeed.
But his motivation to do what??
To create post-African rave rhythmic patterns the likes of which licksneonlights has never seen.

The Flashbulb will release a footwork album in 3...2...

I almost feel like T69 collapse was a necessary track to lead this ep. It's similar enough to the acid + breaks trip we've been on since essentially analord. but it also collapses away from that and into new territory. In that way, it's the perfect gateway to the otherworldly tracks we hear for the remainder.
if this ep had started with 1st 44, our heads would have completely exploded. Or we would have thought it was a fake. It's almost as if Richard wanted to make sure that we could handle the new direction that he's taking us. He cares about us guys. He really cares about us.
-
This is so fucking good. And relistening to T69 Collapse now, I hear the track differently in the context of the full ep. The intricate beats were not simply a variation on what we've been hearing since The Tuss. It's a whole new direction and that becomes immediately clear on 1st 44 and beyond. This feels like the beginning of a new era of Aphex Twin and holy shit is it amazing.
-
eh cheetah I could take it or leave it. but the rest yeath totally.
CIRKLON3 Kolkhoznaya Mix is so tight
-
At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, I honestly think this dude can do no wrong. Analord? Amazing. The Tuss? Incredible. Syro? Next level. Cheetah? Fucking dope. Collapse? Dear god yes.

Yup I get definite corporate connotations from that word. I think the problem with it is that it's both passive and general - it doesn't tell you what was innovated, how, or who did it.There's nothing 'corporate' about the word 'innovative'...
I work for a development company and I hear that word daily. It's watered down and soulless... so definite corporate connotations here. Maybe it's a regional thing?
That’s the fault of the speaker being an inarticulate knob, it’s not inherent to the word itself
-
The baseline that begins around :28 is so sweet. I could listen to a full album of just that melody.
-
Relax.
Nah bro. Aphex is serious business.
-
So much negativity in this thread. Richard isn’t innovating anymore? Compared to who? Nobody else makes music like this. Not even close.
-
They said they would make it available online but never said when.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
