  1. This definitely isn't MFM and I'm guessing that whatever that 33 day countdown is leading us to, this isn't it. There's some really good stuff here, but I wouldn't call it a new proper album. The longest track is 4:00 or so. This seems like some odds and ends, some of which are very nice. Track 5 is an ambient little thing with birds in the background. Track 11 sounds like it could be a SAW II reject. Track 6 is the track he's been teasing along with the Weirdcore video effects - a frustratingly short version.

  2. Yes also to the folks who've said they've heard a few samples from the first album. The one that I can remember for sure is the high pitched bell sound from Frontier Psychiatrist. It's in one of the Wildflower tracks but can't remember which at the moment.

  3. I've had a chance to listen to Wildflower a dozen times now and I love it more with every listen. When I first heard it, I thought it was merely okay, somehow foreign and strange. But after repeated listens the songs have started to unfold for me. I hated Frankie Sinatra at first, but now I get it within the context of the album.

This album is a joyful celebration of life and music and I really think it's the best album they could have put out in response to the untoppable Since I Left You. Everything about Wildflower seems like a triumph to me. I couldn't love it more than I do.

  4. I can't believe people are hating on 180db and PAPAT. For me, the first few tracks have a very relaxed vibe (which I love) but then when the kick drum comes fading in for 180db it's like "oh shit, here we go." And that detuned polysynth is like techno for a sports stadium in your nightmares.

And PAPAT? Man every snare hit is like a dream realized. I have to confess, I've been a bit tired of the Amen break the past few years. Just felt like people have done everything that could possibly done with it. But of course Richard injected new life into it like only he can.

There's not a track on this album that I don't like. I still think it might be his best.

  5. This might be one of his best albums. There are so many tiny classic moments that only last a few bars and then change. He said there was nothing groundbreaking here, bullshit. This album is leagues beyond what anybody else is doing at the moment.

    It's a classic.
