As a Thom Yorke agnostic (I’ve tried to get into Radiohead multiple times, only to be put off by Yorke’s voice) I surprisingly love this. Could end up being one of the best albums of the year

Same boat here friend; welcome btw. Yeah I can't really stand Tom Porke, radiohead is not for me it just sounds like a sad wailing banshee. But for whatever reason this Clark album is my favourite thing in a while.

Fuck ? MIXL2 was a dear watmm and chatmm friend, around for a long time. Was great finally meeting him last autumn at the gig after talking for a decade. He was always very open about his mental state too. Needless to say, I did not see this coming at all.

    UGH

One of the last tracks he posted in chat, we'll miss you MIXL ❤️

This is very upsetting. He was as close as somebody can get as a proper friend to me on watmm. As I find the concept of being close with online folks a hard one to navigate (I’m not sure why this is). I honestly have been thinking it’s strange he’s been absent from BOC chat and was genuinely going to ask or PM him if he was okay, but I’ve been selfishly busy with my own problems the last few weeks. We private messaged each other a few times, which I wont discuss. I remember asking him about his profile pictures/painting’s because I really liked them, I think (I can check) they were from a favourite childhood book.

I will be thinking of The Owl Of Minerva when I play the new BOC album. It will be sad because I know he was absolutely desperate to hear it himself.

    Rest In Peace

Both of these comments 100%. ?

This is really shitty news and completely unexpected. RIP

anyone been playing the diablo 4 beta? The game comes out for people that pre-ordered on Thursday I think.  I've purposely been avoiding it and looking forward to going in blind and enjoying the first playthrough.  Still not sure if I'm going to pre-order the $70 basic version, or just wait for the horrible release day issues to pass and hop in whenever.  I'm really looking forward to some good cutscenes/story and being a loot whore.

This looks like a good tdlr for anyone like me that hasn't been paying attention but wants to play:

There were 0 release day issues for me. Even right when it released I only had to queue for 3 minutes to play and everything has been seamless.

First impressions are… I haven’t found anything to dislike about it yet? I’m not a diablo fanboy but did spend many hours on all 3 prior games, was expecting to have some issues with 4 but so far so good….

Just a souvenir could have been a great album but it is unlistenable because of the terrible tinny mixing. I  have no idea what he was thinking with that. Quite a shame.

Half of that album is amazing Imo, the other half I don’t enjoy as much because of the mixing like you said. Star time2, quadrature, coathanger, potential govaner, and A Real Woman hit just right.

Overall I think it’s a unique aesthetic in his discog I wouldn’t mind a revisit to I just hope it would have more oomph.

Thanks so much, man. Thanks for listening.

It's really good! I don't know if I never knew, or knew and simply forgot (either way my loss), but I didn't know you were making tunes...? The other tracks on your SC are quite nice too.

I'm guessing all of these other tracks I'm finding under Make Mills on BC are you as well? Lovely, have something to dig into next weekend ?

I know I’m a broken record on every new chris clark release thread - he doesn’t stop exploring - he always pushes himself - blah blah blah. While I agree with the Thom voice sentiments already expressed, I give tons of credit for just going full tilt on what his voice is. He’s used it a lot and obviously has a knack for hooks but damn, there are a ton of vocal hooks on this and good ones at that. Have to give him props for pushing his own creativity. There’s nothing better than that than any artist can do. Looking forward to exploring this much more than anything he’s done in many many years.

My favourite thing he’s done in almost 20 years. This is really good.

It's very well produced and I guess his vocals sound good for a newby.

Yeah I’m not sure but in a weird way I think this might be why I like it so much. Just kind of going back to his roots and trying shit, rather than fitting a record label uh… label. Not a fan of tom porke ofc and I hear the relation but like Clark’s version better ?

Only times I saw them were at the Holocene in Portland, the Showbox in Seattle, and the Imperial in Vancouver B.C. on the 24th, 25th, & 26th respectively back in Sept 2015. As for the ticket prices, I forgor.

Was with you at the Imperial! iirc they were $45ish CAD; seems a steal tbh.

    I also love Iradelphic.

Giving Sus Dog a spin now, I find it surprisingly good!

I kind of just quickly flipped through a few tracks to get an initial vibe and I think it will be right up my alley! Grabbing it tonight ?

(Irony being I really am not a fan of thom pork)
