Finally finished System Shock remake, after clocking in just over 30 hours.
It's kinda surreal seeing one of my favorite childhood games on PC get an overhaul like this, not to mention mainstream attention and praise. I remember first backing it as a Kickstarter project back in July 2016. After multiple delays and a complete game engine change, I'd say Nightdive fully delivered.
Granted it's not without its flaws (albeit minor ones), but overall it's been a pretty neat journey through Citadel station. Now just debating whether to jump straight into a second playthrough (taking a slightly different weapons approach) or hop back on NMS for the new Singularity expedition - for which there's about a month left.- 2

Reddit congratulated me today on having 25 followers. Too bad most of said followers are OF bots.

Beat Warhammer 40K: Boltgun a little while ago. Pretty good overall but the amount of monsters gets a bit over the top at times. Boss fights get tedious and repetitive as well.
Now gonna do one last run of the System Shock remake demo before full release tomorrow. Must contain excitement. -

Nocturia (having to get up to piss throughout the night) has become more of an issue for me over the past year. Either it's early stage old man problems, or I just need to start cutting off any food and fluid intake after dinner.

Only times I saw them were at the Holocene in Portland, the Showbox in Seattle, and the Imperial in Vancouver B.C. on the 24th, 25th, & 26th respectively back in Sept 2015. As for the ticket prices, I forgor.

Anything along the lines of FMWT, Hard Normal Daddy, Big Loada, and a few select trax from Selection Sixteen and Damogen Furies for me. Also his NTS set from 22 June 2019, as well as Vortrack (Fracture mix). Basically the hard electronic stuff with high-speed sequenced percussion with a side of retro home computer chip sounds thrown in does it for me.
Either way, I can't think of other artists who can match his sequencing prowess, aside from maybe VSnares and 1995-2001 Aphex. -
Seems like the best new games so far this year are all remakes of classics. Apparently E3 got cancelled this year as well.
Regardless, I wish companies would focus less on being ambitious or trying to push the envelope and more on making games that are enjoyable and/or original. I think it's completely fine if they draw influence from classics though. -
Just beat RE4 remake on Hardcore, smashing the last of the 16 Clockwork Castellans in the process. And now I've unlocked a bonus weapon.
Might be a while before I play again though. But I'm sure a Separate Ways DLC is inevitable. Maybe I'll try a Professional run next time and get my ass whooped hard.
Also just bought Warhammer 40K: Boltgun. Supposed to be the next great boomer shooter apparently. Guess it's something to play while waiting only one more week for Nightdive's long-awaited System Shock remake (the full release)- 1

The fact that a new AAA video game shares a title with a track from an Autechre album 13 years prior somehow bothers me.

(blah blah blah)
SpoilerI'm experiencing a sudden spike in Sun Araw listening lately. Just bought most of their discog on Bandcamp this morning. These guys saw brief fame back when Hotline Miami dropped, but I never knew how prolific they were until today. Pretty sure Sean Booth name-dropped them in one of his Twitch AMAs last summer as well.

I beat Resident Evil 4 remake on Hardcore. Some really tense moments running around short on ammo with tons of enemies. Really well done overall. The merchant is so damn entertaining.
I will start the Horizon Burning Shores DLC when I get back from vacation.
I'm on my second playthrough on Hardcore, coming up on the Verdugo fight. I didn't have the firepower to take him out the first run and ended up just fleeing instead. So hopefully this time, now that most of my guns are maxed.
Yeah ammo is quite scarce compared to the original RE4, but at least you don't completely run out for attempting to kill every enemy like in the RE2 remake. And merchant-san is the type of guy you'd wanna have a few drinks with but have to maintain a strictly business relationship.- 1

Kilgrimol Dissolve is still the top track for me, but Drown A Star is starting to grow on me for some reason. I dunno, feel like there's a surreal juxtaposition of, say, 80s pop/high school films and B horror that I can't adequately pinpoint in words, yet it's something only VHS Head can achieve.

Finally beat RE4 remake today. Well done, Capcom, well done.
Now time for a new plus playthrough on Hardcore with all my carried-over gear. Hopefully I can smash all those stupid-ass clockwork Salazars this time.- 1

Over 25 hrs into RE4 remake and still on the first playthrough...guess part of that is all the backtracking for treasures 'n shit.
Finally met the Regenerators though. Felt damn good to grab that special scope.
Also, not to spoil anything else, but I get the feeling that at least one Capcom employee has played Carrion. -

It's OK. After nearly 55K miles, 8 oil changes, and 8 years (from brand new), I'll risk it.
What Video Games Are You Currently Playing

Sure did. And I know exactly what you mean. Prey is arguably the closest game to System Shock spiritually that isn't System Shock - even more so than Bioshock I'd argue. Especially when it comes to inventory management, multiple grenade types, and audio logs, there's so much overlap between Prey and SS. There's even homage to the original Through the Looking Glass developer when you're watching the in-game video clips of the Yus on those big glass screens.
