  1. On my second listen of this album now. Gotta say that Adrian Blacow has made a strong return overall after a near 8-year hiatus.

A bit difficult for me to pick a fave track atm. But I like Skinflex, Fake Sweat, & Kilgrimol Dissolve in particular. I also noticed that Strange Tangents has the same crystalline bell sounds as Body Magic from PoV, or at least it sounds like it.

Will probably be putting this on loop in the car for the next several months, as it's the only new music I genuinely appreciate atm. Ae be either slackin or teasin us as of late, so this is the next best thing as far as I'm concerned.

  2. Finally got around to the new RE4. Just completed Chapter 1.

Pretty impressed with what Capcom's done so far. Feels like they went for a darker tone in the remake. Controls are smoother too, and the enemies move and behave more natural-like and fluid. I appreciate the fact that you can perform stealth takedowns now as well. And there's some new surprises thrown in, including a new enemy type in the farm area with the blue medallions.

And I couldn't help but clap at the iconic church bell scene, along with Leon repeating the original "bingo" line.

  3. I can kinda relate to this. Not sure how reliable my advice would be here, but I find it helps sometimes to jam out/take a freeform approach on some piece of hardware (or even acoustic instrument) and go completely impromptu. Doesn't have to be recorded. Then when you naturally feel some tune that comes to mind, that's when you finally get something that sticks. It's almost a nebular approach in this sense.

For example, two years ago I'd just randomly be on the couch, playing around on my Korg Minilogue xd, then once I come up with a melody or some semblance of looped structure, then I'd be like "damn, I could do something with this." Then just keep practicing that same melody until I have it memorized, then apply it to my compositions in FL Studio. Pretty much what I did with my latest complete work.

You don't want it to become a chore though, or something that has to be crossed off your to-do list or whatever. It's something that has to flow naturally, as cliche as this might sound. It can actually be quite therapeutic/zen-like if you're not concerned about any kind of game plan. More or less like starting off an empty paint canvas like Bob Ross.

Like I said though, this is just my take based on experience. You do what works best for you.

this guy returns from a 2 week vacation today and i swear to god i will do a murder

Although I've never worked in a restaurant, I can kinda see where you're coming from. Hell, I lived with a bunch of Japanese dudes back in college, when I was in Hokkaido.

Needless to say, the guy you speak of sounds like a real shit stain. Were I in your vicinity, I'd offer to lend a hand with your...problem.

  5. Saw a mouse scurrying in my home this morning for the first time in over two years. I already got rid of the traps, thinking I wouldn't need them anymore. Plus, they don't always work as intended.

So I figured my Roomba would be the next best thing. I'm hoping the mice see it as some menacing robotic behemoth of a predator trying to sniff them out, when it's actually just vacuuming & sucking up dust.

Metroid Fusion has been added to the GBA emulator of Nintendo Switch Online. Finally playing my favorite game again after years (I traded my cartridge with a friend in school ).

Surprisingly, I still remember most of the path. Hope I will finish the game before the 2 hours mark !

Metroid Fusion is available on Switch now? Fuck yeah.

Haven't used my Switch in a while, but hopefully they add Zero Mission also at some point, if they haven't already.

  7. Finally beat Atomic Heart, after 30+ hours. I think at least a third of that I spent on finding all of the Testing Grounds so I could unlock all of the weapon upgrades.

Not sure how I feel about the ending. I guess after the big denouement we can deduce that Agent P-3 is an example of a tragic hero, and that there's a legit reason for his ongoing anger issues. But there are also bigger themes at play. In a way I think the game itself is intended as a satire, not just of capitalism and communism equally, but humanity as a whole and a cautionary tale based on current trends. Other than that, I think the only spoiler I'd reveal is that there's a very deliberate nod to Bioshock. Overall though I genuinely think this ended up being a good game.

RE4 remake drops in less than two weeks. So I might jump back into the Dead Space remake in the meantime with a New Game +.

EDIT: Damn it feels good to get back into the new Dead Space. After the convoluted and tedious nature of Atomic Heart, it feels like a breath of fresh air. I dunno, gameplay just feels much more streamlined and straightforward. Plus it's always satisfying stomping the shit out of enemy corpses. Already acquired the military RIG/suit by the end of the first chapter too (on plus playthrough)
