  1. haha yes! i remember this happening when i first listened to oversteps, very loud in headphones on the way to work.
  2. i'm loving the fuck out of pt2ph8 lately, btw. some of the melodies remind me of parts of chiastic slide.
  3. that's strange, i'm of the opinion that this is probably the most 'composed' autechre album, in terms of melodic structure. I certainly agree. Sorry if I was unclear. oh! oops, i misread your post!

  5. i mean, how does it sound different? i can't possibly imagine it being more dynamic, since it's pretty flat, volume wise. ie. i don't really understand how it would benefit from 24 bit resolution. i want to see a direct comparison/analysis to see what i'm missing out on, if anything. and since i don't have the 24 bit wavs, i can't do it myself.
  6. maybe. more of an analysis or something though ie. what is the actual difference (perceptible or not) between 16 and 24 bit versions? is there any way to do this? i'm guessing a 'stereo difference' style cancellation wouldn't work.
  7. so.. is anyone actually going to do a comparison between the 16 and 24 bit versions?
  8. so has anyone actually compared the 16 and 24 bit wavs yet?
  9. i've got some for my own use but you can use what i've posted in this thread if it's good enough! if not i'll post another.
  10. yeah headphone amps are the shit. i can't afford one though so i just use a 70s kenwood amp with my alessandro ms-1s. good enough for octagons!
  11. i'm still into it. i've got tons of recordings so far!
  12. yeah good to see designers republic are still up to their same old tricks, ie. "Warp logo" etc.
  13. yep, you hit the nail right on the head there imo.
  14. yeah actually one of my game programmer friends was over the other night and saw me save state bending, he was the one who suggested ristar+sonic - he said pretty much the same thing (combining games with the same engine will produce the best results). he also gave me about 1.5gb of roms, zole. i might try some more obscure/unpopular stuff this weekend. i was highly disappointed that michael jackson's moonwalker didn't produce any usable results! your music is fantastic. are you signed? do you want to be signed? thanks much! yours is pretty freakin' awesome as well. i'm not signed, but i wouldn't say no!

  16. ok, here is the result of the sonic 3 saved game screen loaded into ristar: http://rooftopaccess.net/audio/sonistar3.mp3 i had a similar result when loading the same save state into ecco, but different enough to be called a different 'piece' or something. actually ecco has provided some really great results so far. will post more when i can figure out which games i used hehe. ps. + @ the sporadic burst of notes at 3:11, and the 'door creaking' sounds throughout the track.
  17. hmm, good idea. how to do it though? well you can save "cartridges" that are basically snapshots so if you could find/modify an emu that lets you change "carts" without rebooting same as this rly hmmm yes, your avatar IS very distracting.
  18. man i've got so much gold from this, i might actually compile some of them and release an album myself. as well as submitting a few tracks for this compilation! thanks much to mcbpete for discovering this excellent source of inspiration! hmm, good idea. how to do it though?
  19. i tried it with zsnes, doesn't work. it just loads the actual game that the save state belongs to. it probably wouldn't work even if forced anyway, since snes music is entirely sample based (ie. tracker music) - it'd most likely just end up sounding like rhythmic noise bursts or something.
  20. fuck, i've become so obsessed with doing this. i'll post some results soon. i've done 20 tonight lol.
  21. how are we gonna put this compilation together? just one track each or several?
