  1. A couple listens over the weekend and I’d agree with the comments about it being his best since R+7. It’s a bit of a slow start but once you understand what he’s going for it digests a lot better. I can see why he recommends listening to it 2x in a row. Highlights for me:

    World Outside - fuck yes

Locrian Midwest - especially the last 15 seconds, he’s got an amazing ability to create small moments of unique bliss.

The last four tracks overall. Amazing run of tunes. I think On an Axis is one of the best tunes I’ve ever heard from him, I don’t even know how to classify it.

A Barely Lit Path is just next level, probably my track of the year.

  2. R+7 turns 10 this week. This should prob. just be attached to the thread for that album but I felt it appropriate to share here, in case there are comparisons to draw with the new one. This album always felt older than 10, although they're unrelated it's wild to me to think this came out AFTER Tomorrow's Harvest by BoC. I'm just getting really old, is what it comes down to.

  3. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a bit obessive of BoC and am desperate to hear what they've been working on, and I think about it to a probably unhealthy level, BUT...

I was listening to Geogaddi this weekend and thought to myself, even if they are done and we're just not aware yet, what a special gift we have in Geogaddi specifically. It could've been the only album they released and I'd be happy. Of course I'm in love with the rest of their catalog but Geogaddi is such a comprehensive trip of an album. It just doesn't get much better. Alot of artists strive their entire careers to make something as special.

I doubt they are done and I do think an album is coming, maybe next year. I just felt really content this weekend, it's been a while since I've felt that way about their music. A flawless discography and an arguement could be made for any of their LPs that it's their masterpiece.

first impressions - a very nice, chill album. I’ll definitely be returning to it and feels like it might open up more as the summer transitions to autumn. definitely the most impressive Slowdive album as far as the mixing and production go; I was especially surprised at how nice the vocals sound, how well they sit very upfront in the mix - quite unusual for them but it sounds really good.

I can validate this assertion! Great album, really hits the spot for me right now.

i'm keeping my eye on people here calling stuff "weird"

    this is concerning

yeah i mean i guess weird is relative here. Is it weird compared to the Autechre subforum? No certainly not. Is he a weird guy compared to most musicians and styles? I'd say so. He's always been difficult to categorize for me.

  6. Say what you will about his music and whether you like it or not but one thing is for sure, the dude is a grade A weirdo and I'm 100% here for it.

Total stunner of a track, tbh. It's gorgeous. Harkens back to R + 7 for me. This is when he's at his best, feels like he's just doing his thing.
