Makes sense to me.
Actually I wonder about many artists with a similar following. EOD for instance. Just wondering if it's possible to make ends meet at that level. Or if the music only pays for so much. I've heard of the concept of getting 1000 ' dedicated fans' that would buy most of your stuff. At this point I'd say they have an extensive discography and have around that amount of dedicated fans. Total conjecture on my part.I guess you could do that if you moved to a low cost country. Leyland Kirby lives in Poland, and seem to make a living out of making music. For EOD? No chance of make a decent living out of 1000 dedicated fans residing in Norway. An old acquaintance of mine quit a very good job in public radio and moved to Berlin around 2010 to make a living of making music. He has managed to do that since, mostly because of excessive DJing and affordable costs. I´m happy for him, but wonder what it will be like when he turns 50? 60?
Anyway. I searched for this topic because I wondered what Wisp do these days. Probably a boring job and a family. But can he please release some of his old stuff on bandcamp?

Has your facebook wall/stream turned into shit lately? I don't use it Facebook, and fewer and fewer of my friends are using it. But when I occationally browse it, it gives me absolutely nothing that I actually care about. Right now the top "content" before any updates from friends is currently from
- Drug enforcement Cops (No idea what this is)
-A reel of someone eating.
-Zimbabwe News and Jokes (WTF)
-Heartland (No Idea what this is).
-Ad from Britbox TV
-OD Viral (some kind of meme generator I think)
-Power Rankings (some Tv shows meme thing).
I guess I should be happy, because this gives me absolutely no reason to check facebook, but I'm puzzled how the algorithms are not working AT ALL.

John Maus cancelled from Electronicon-festival
So. He watched the Capitol attack from a distance, and performed at a MDE show long before anyone knew Sam Hyde was an alt-righter. And now he is cancelled from a festival to avoid that POC and LGBTQ+ fans feels unsafe?

Omg Ivan thank you so much for posting this haha. Every single vinyl release is 10-15€ more expensive than it was 3 years ago. In my local record store, Amber repress was 25€, LP5 repress was 30€, Draft 7.30 is 40€.
And this is a great argument for filling those pieces of vinyl to the brim with music.

If he continues like last time or like he did with analord there will be quite a bunch of EPs to come
Kudos for the positive attitude, but Analord is 18 years ago, and he hasn't really done anything similar before or after. But he had a nice streak from 2015-2018 for sure.

A bit underwhelmed tbh. A lot of fuzz and marketing tricks for a 14 min single/ep. The released track is nice, but with all the fuzz, you would expect more, right? Especially with all the youtube vids with suspected unreleased material. This kind of marketing makes sense for "comebacks" like Syro and Tomorrows Harvest, but this?
Naturally, people speculate about this being the single from an album, but I guess the Aphex-momentum is NOW. So if Warp doesn't announce more before the weekend, we're probably stuck with this release. I mean, the blimp and the Tor-link wasn't marketing for the minipops-single.
Of course, WARPs PR-department may have some tricks in their sleeve if there really is an album on it's way, but for now, the whole thing feels kinda meagre.

Walking around Japan at night listening to new Aphex on good headphones is proper lush.
Google drive version fucking lovely.
Google drive version=prallax version, no?
A two track 10-vinyl and then a 14 min ep where 4 mins are released now and 10 min in a month, and I still can’t keep up.

Ok. So the SC-track got removed? Isn't this a bit too messy?

I just love the vibe in that movie. Available on youtube.

How many tracks has he put out under various aliases? Albums, eps, remixes, compilations? 1000? 2000? And some 17 old dude has listened enough to each track that he can write a meaningful piece or analysis of every one of them?

Aleksi Perälä - GAIA 15
in New & Upcoming Releases
Posted
I used to ba a fan but fell of the Aleksi train a long time ago. I just can´t keep up with 10+ releases every year. Are the releases under the same name connected in any way? Vibe, software, genre? If I live GAIA 15, will I probably like all GAIAs?
