But I'm gonna respect Samson's privacy, so I will not share it with you (sorry) ?

Same. You are one lucky old geezer, Sean.

  2. Nono. Russell Haswell. Sunn was at a festival.

One of the Haswell concerts I was buying a beer at the moment he started. The girl at the bar (employed because of her looks, not the interest for the concerts at the venue), stopped pouring and looked at the stage in pure terror. After ten seconds of "well, this is not going to stop" she shook her head, got her earplugs, and continued to work.

...and a lot of local/lesser known artists.

Still annoyed that I missed Suede in 97, Mercury Rev in 99, and Plaid in 2000(?), all playing in the town I live in.

Artists/bands I'd really like to see live: BOC, Plaid(!) and REM. I Guess Plaid is the only realistic happening.

  4. What tracks and why? (Have we done this already?)

Andy Stott-Up The Box (Luxury Problems). The way this turns into an almost generic dnb-track is just terrible. It adds nothing to an otherwise great album.

Aphex Twin-Produk 29 [101] (Syro). Track 3 after the brilliant start with Minipops and XMAS_EVET. It's just so slow and lazy with those annoying vocal samples. More like a b-side on a single.

Huerco S-Plonk IX (Plonk). The album is such a great follow up and evolution of the vibes on Colonial Patterns, and For Those...  And then it's this track sounding like some random stoner rapping over sub-par beats for seven fucking minutes.

Massive Attack-Light my fire (Live) (Protection). It made a 10/10 album a 9/10 because of this shit. Why include a random live track to a studio album? Luckily it's the last track.

  5. I think Barbican as a venue was great. I saw them do a set without lights in 2010 in a more traditional music venue. The venue had the bars open, so you didn't get the same pitch black experience, and with a "sloped" (?) floor and a lot of drunk people bumping around in almost darkness, it felt like a completely different setting. At the Barbican everything was pitch black, and the only thing I saw from my position was some ghostly distant spherical forms bobbing around behind the screens on stage. A dreamy and strange experience and like others, I had noe idea how long they had played. A fun thing; in the middle(?) of the set, a floating light made it's way to me. It was one of the Barbican staff who asked a guy who was lying down right in front of me, to find his seat. I had no idea.

Also the description of ZF first set sounded like the description of the last.
