  1. The shower in my (as yet unoccupied) flat has been leaking down into the flat below, causing damage unknown (I have been unable to meet/talk to them yet).

I was told this early in the day during work, and proceeded to endure the longest, most overdrawn day I've ever had in my job, which did not help the panic that my flat may or may not be pissing water into the one below.

End of story: yes, was leak, worse than thought but patched up for now, waiting on new shower to be installed to fix problem once and for all. And I still need to speak to my neighbour directly and apologise and find out what damage (if any, hopefully little) was done.

    tl;dr. :psyduck:

edit: ghosty I have an older brother like that except he's addicted to pizza and still a total prick and to this day my only real trigger towards turning me into a raging furious ire ball

  2. Some of my vinyl appears to be damaged from years in attic storage and being roughly shifted about. Scuffs and scratches on a bunch of it. Hope it still plays well at least. :cattears:

Thankfully it is now being stored in brand new shelves at my new digs, so no longer will it be treated rough. Gentle times are ahead, my dear vinyl records!

  3. Sisters Brothers - Pretty good, although it feels somewhat skeletal. But what was there was enjoyable enough.

The Rehearsal - an interesting confusing story like something Satoshi Kon would do. I think Eleanor Catton is a future great novelist and I look forward to more books from her.

Now starting: Freedom by Jonathan Franzen and finishing Briefing For a Descent Into Hell by Doris Lessing, after getting near the end and my kindle then dying.

  4. You make miracle food and put it on toast? Roast a duck and stuff that shit in there! (doesn't know shit about pate / ducks)

Received a whole load of furniture today so my flat isn't so empty and modern i.e. empty. Sure, the delivery people lost my desk but I can overlook that for now!

Even better: the bookshelves I ordered are big enough for vinyls. Finally, they have a good home, out of the cold attic they've been in for years. :cattears:

  5.

Are there any races or groups of people with extreme THC intolerance who get high as fuck off a single toke?

Similar to Native Americans who lack some gut bacteria, who get drunk as fuck off light beer

So in the end races and ethnic groups matter?

Complexion. It don't mean a thing.

That's just not true but okay. Is the only difference between pitbulls and teacup poodles size and hair styles? No. Why should we assume the same of humans? Nothing wrong with accepting the reality that the human species has culturally and biologically evolved in isolated pockets that have tended to not interbreed for thousands of years. Even though it's politically incorrect to say. Stop pretending there is no diversity, accept and appreciate it.

Those are lyrics from a Kendrick Lamar song. Just sayin', he probably didn't mean that much by it

    flol seconded

  6. i've played literally every ratchet and clank game (apart from the ghey PSP ones) since the first waaaaay back in 02 and I just fucking love them. I don't understand why there aren't more games like it.. aka super easy and you dont have to grind out levels. so boring. you just play and blow cartoon shit up!! whats not to love!!

edit: caveat i am not a gamer

Me too, have been with the franchise since the beginning. I hope to God they bring it to PC because I don't got a PS4. :(

edit: if you play games U is a gamer. Don't listen to that 'hardcore gamer' bullshit, those people never have any fun

  7. Finished both Brief History of Seven Killings and Do Not Harm in the last two days. Brilliant reads! One dedicated to murders, the other one to keeping people alive. A nice contrast.

Next up: The Sisters Brothers by Patrick Dewitt on my kindle and The Rehearsal by Eleanor Catton in hardcover. Should be fun!

Also, in a week or so I will be waiting around in my empty flat for delivery people / electric people to turn up. I will take the time stuck waiting to begin on Against the Day by Pynchon. Wish me luck. :catsalute:

  8. I never thought I would like it, but FFXIII-2 was the most fun RPG I played in years, and way better than FFXIII itself, although that was fun when it let you run around an open field rather than run down corridors. In FFXIII-2 you can play the story in any order, and the story isn't so much a story but puzzles spread over a wide array of timelines and areas. Surprisingly fun, especially for how cheap I got it.

If FFXV is more like that, with the freedom to go wherever and just mess around, I might be tempted. But I'll wait for the reviews first and see.

  9.

    still on berserk.

    this manga.

i know it's a japanese manga but holy shit. it is just .. soooo japanese.

i'll be reading it and at times have to stop and :psyduck: at how it's written. it makes me feel a little derpy trying to stay on its level.

It is called Berserk...I mean, what kind of person names an infant Guts?

  10. My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante was excellent, will definitely be reading the rest. Believe the hype! That ending... :catbleed:

Now to read Do Not Harm by Henry Marsh, about brain surgery and the stories involved in such a high risk job. I expect lots of squirming on my own behalf.
