I play Downwell and listen to author interviews / podcasts sometimes. I've barely started the third world, my progress is terrible but I like the game. Good for a quid!

Finished Moby-Dick: the beast is slain! Blood and thunder! Forty barrels of sperm all round!
Now to start on Franzen's Purity.

Kind of a dumb mistake to leave beer in the care of someone called beerwolf
Also lol added to lolcall

Finished Jane Eyre. Twas a splendid read. Now to start on these Nicola Barker books finally.
It's interesting how much less words there are on a page in new novels then there were in the old: one page of Jane Eyre or Moby-Dick contains double that of Burley Cross Postbox Theft. Newer novelists are lightweights compared to the old.
If there's a 33 1/3 book that's worth reading it's the Celine Dion one

the guy mentions not owning a TV in the first page but it's worth reading

My dad, after boasting for years that he's never been to the dentist, has a major absess and his face is swollen up like someone wearing five masks of their own face.
I lol'ed.

I don't hate it--the texture / language of it is fantastic--but it's definitely digressive in a way I feel is distracting. Will finish it though, and I rarely finish books I hate.

I'm very excited about this, really have been trying hard not to post it before it came out, and here it is:
Posted from my Facebook post:
So guys, here it is.. This is crazy. Jazz Trumpeter Mac Gollehon (Bowie, Duran Duran, Blondie, Chic, etc) and his label got a hold of me, wanting an official remix for his new album... IN THE STYLE OF VAPORWAVE. So I took him on. No compromising... I gave him a classic vape meets latin late night lo-fi with dark muzak touches. All original production. Accepted. Album released today via True Groove Records out of NYC. The guy who played JAZZ trumpet all over the 80s / new wave super-hits that vaporwave is inspired by just went full-on vapor with the help of Donovan Hikaru's David Ben Jack alias. For anyone that said vapor is dead or dying is having the last laugh. Real shit y'all. Hope you enjoy! And would love to hear your thoughts!

29 years old, still living at home, can't find a job that pays a living wage, my resume sucks ass, I don't even know where to start trying to get back into school and fix my horrendous GPA, I feel like i should die
Sympathies, 31 and still at home. True, I have bought a flat recently but three months on and I still can't move because of problems with electric / water. So close to moving on but still stuck at home. Might end up 32 before the problems are solved.
Easy to say it, but keep your head up! I honestly could never imagine affording a place of my own when I was 29 but somehow I have, sure you will too.

Eh. It's a book of its time i.e. long winded. Could definitely have been edited and you'd have been none the wiser. No wonder people found it boring at the time!
I recommend reading abridged, as I'm sure it focuses on getting onto ship, meeting Ahab and the slow build up to meeting Moby Dick (only mentioned in stories so far).
Currently feels like a mixture between a technical manual on how to whale in the 19th century and a bloody revenge story.
Honestly, the latter is more interesting. Some aspects of whaling are interesting, but do I really want a chapter about a type of wood used to make a bar stool? Answer:
no
Compared to the level of hype given to the book vs. the excitement of reading it, I'd say it's a slog so far. Staying in it for the Moby Dick battle at this point.

Insane obscurity? Isn't this about the most mainstream thing ever to come out of that whole scene?
In terms of copies to buy of the vinyl it's obscure, not the music / artists themselves.

Still reading Moby Dick: at 49% way through the book, the first whale shows up. Halfway through!
Lots of amazing sentences: "We were looking at a field of sperm"

Noice release! I thought they were gonna wait until Plaid were done but I guess not! Would be nice to hear some of those ambient long tracks on vinyl though.
Gonna buy these one at a time and savour each one.
I've noticed the discount applies regardless of if you buy them together or individually--the AE live tracks show a big discount for me as I only bought a few so far--so I'm not going to blow my load right now.
-
This time, even if it's my last few dollars, I will buy. I even bought the other vinyl record Dream Catalogue sell, in case that goes the same way in terms of insane obscurity.
-
Bumping to state that I have infinite regrets not buying this on vinyl. I had my chance and blew it. Welp.
-
By any chance does the spoiler involve blood? And demons? I do want to get Doom, will pick up on a sale.
Bought a cheap copy of Just Cause 3, which runs remarkably well on my laptop. Why am I playing it now? just cuz.

Kickstarter + games = nope!

Portal 2 was wicked. When is Portal 3 out?

The day after my hearing is cleared by the hearing specialist at hospital, the partial deafness in my ear returns, meaning I have to go to my GP, request hospital appointment and do all this shit again to get my ear sorted. If it had happened a day before, I could have gotten it checked out! The timing is so fucking shit...
The only plus is I know for a fact what is happening this time so I can rest easy it's not brain cancer. But still, it sucks. My ear crackles like a dusty vinyl everytime I move my jaw. Not painful but annoying. Ugh.

Also, can I say that I'm tearing through Nicola Barker's Burley Cross Postbox Theft and it's fantastic. Spiral, I really think Nicola Barker is right up your alley.
I'm probably going to read all her other stuff too, if it's anywhere near as enjoyable as this one.
