  1. i kinda justify my gear purchases because if needs be they can be easily sold for a small loss (if new) or for the same amount/potentially more (if 2nd hand).

i kinda like the idea of buying gear without knowing a massive amount about it and just kinda exploring and seeing how it fits into my sound. to this effect i've just ordered a Roland R5 (drum machine) from eBay for no real reason. hopefully i can get some good stuff from it but if not i recon i can flip it for more than i brought it for anyway.

  2. so have all euro watmmers received their ae vinyl by now? I got a dispatch notice ~two weeks ago but I'm still waiting....

i ordered mine from bleep a few days ago and they arrived 2 days later
  3. Shut Up And Dance must be the darkest Black Mirror episode so far... fucking hell.

it was the best episode of the series so far (ep01 was decent, the horror house parts of ep02 were good but the ending was tarded) but it was a tough watch.

i'm not a fan of the Americanisation of the series either but eh, whatever.

  4. ^^^ awesome cover art.

    edit: fuckin page break

i finished What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, which was pretty interesting though nothing stellar. it actually got me back into running which i wasn't expecting, so thanks for that, Murakami!

i've started The Informers by Bret Easton Ellis. really enjoyed Less Than Zero and this seems more of the same in a lot of ways so should be good.

  5. i noticed they didn't show any families/kids in the Switch trailer and it was clearly marketed at young adults.

that + the fact they are advertising a Mario Kart game, a major Zelda game at launch, teasing a new major Mario game, a 3rd party AAA title (Skyrim), taking away any focus on gimic controllers and marketing it as something that is clearly not 'Wii' related all point to them getting their shit together when it comes to marketing this time around. i really hope it succeeds but who knows.

  6. i can't even imagine how it'd feel to be a major backer of the Ouya. what a piece of shit that was

i was hoping the NX/Switch was going to be a dedicated home console rather than a hybrid home/handheld, but that video put me at ease as it looks like a full home console, just with added portability. it takes the idea of off-TV play from the Wii U and improved on it massively (which is already a great idea and something i use a lot).

i wouldn't worry about having to use the tablet controller, the regular controller got plenty of screen time in the trailer so i'm hoping/thinking it'll be included with the console.

  7. i finished The Naked and the Dead which was brilliant, particularly the final quarter or so. now i'm going to read a few smaller novels; i started reading What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami. i don't have a massive interest in running but it sounded interesting and reading some non-fiction is nice for a change.

  8. ^^^ if you're interested look into the Digitech hardwire line. obscura and polara are basically newer versions/upgrades from what i gather. i haven't heard the hardwire delay but my friend has the verb which is great and one of the reasons i went for the polara.

  9. Does WATMM have any recs for cheapish reverb and delay pedals? I'm currently looking at the TC HOF and Flashback, and the digitech polara and obscura. Ps. Needs to be stereo.

i have both the polara and obscura and they are amazing. the polara is super lush and the obscura can do some interesting things (i got it because i was interested in the degrade options, but it does clean stuff really well too obviously).
  10. fiiiiinallllyyyy finished Tokyo Mirage Sessions. put about 60 hours into it and tried to finish as much as i could on the first playthrough, but may do it again on NG+/lunatic difficulty in the future.

i feel like this game will be (/is) an obscure gem.

i also brought and beat Kirby 64 recently which was surprisingly a lot harder than i thought it would be and i actually saw the Game Over screen quite often which i wasn't expecting from a Kirby game. i loved this one as well and might go back and get all the collectables some time.

i'm going to download a Castlevania game from the eShop next. trying to decide whether to play through Castlevania 1, 3, 4 or Aria of Sorrow first.

  11. Hunger is great. i'll pick up Pan one of these days.

i'm STILL reading Norman Mailer - The Naked and the Dead. book is looooongggg. some parts are really good, i keep forgetting he wrote this so young. a few sections are a little boring but considering the page count so much of it holds up well.

  12. i don't have much interest in NMS nor a console that can play it, but i strongly got the impression multiplayer was involved, but featured in a way that means it's unlikely you will experience it - which makes it in many ways more exciting than regular multiplayer.

they lied about that which is a stupid and shitty thing to do.
