  1. Looks like he's been deleting some older uploads, I'm counting 20 new ones but SC says 114 tracks total.

Will probably be burned alive at the stake for this kind of heresy, but I can see where the folks over at rare afx are coming from. I checked my skepticism at the door some time ago but I still get the feeling that some of these tracks don't sound like any of Richard's previous work at all. I know he is incredibly versatile and is one of the only artists who could undergo such transformation, but damn. There are quite a few previously unexplored avenues of sound being displayed here. At times I wonder, at the very least, if some of this material was the result of collaboration. If not the work of someone else entirely (shots fired?).

Regardless of my suspicions we're definitely awash in a sea of undiluted AFX acid here, and this will indeed go down in the annals of IDM history as the most baller move of all time.

  3. I know I've been trying to say this and express it a couple of time in the pages of this thread,

but don't you guys think it's a breaking new grounds in music / distribrution / live experience.

Yeah, as far as I know this is unprecedented. I've heard of other artists doing something akin to this, but on this scale? Not even close. To quote someone from here whose name I can't recall (maybe you?)

  4. "...like at the times me & Mike did that album, we were drunk and on acid all the time and i was pissed off/angry while doing it..."

Man, I never would have thought the end product of being constantly angry, drunk and on acid could sound like that. That adds a whole new level of humor to future listens. Getting "Angry, Drunk and on Acid Vol. 2" doesn't seem very likely anymore. That's unfortunate (for us anyways).

  5.

I think it was done for a laugh more than anything.

Kinda the vibe I got from it as well which is why it surprised me to hear that. Maybe not an outright joke, but it didn't seem like they were going for anything serious. It's got a goofy saturday morning cartoons on LSD thing going for it but overall I still think it's a fun listen.

Richard said he hated Mike&Rich album, he was pissed while doing it, and he was pissed by releasing it

For real? That kinda sucks to hear but I believe it. I recently read an interview with Mike and he said when he first submitted his work to Richard he said something along the lines of "Yeah, it sounds ok. But it's all b-sides. You have to make some a-sides, ok?"

    Brutal.

Definitely brutal, but with all due respect to Mike (someone who's music I like but never loved), it's a pretty good way to summarise AFX vs Mu-Ziq

Yeah, I mostly agree with that sentiment though I do believe that he has improved and more than earned his acclaim. I guess the reverse is true for Mike with regards to building a label and promoting artists, however.
