  1. Long time no see, all.  Been a busy/hectic/crazy year here for me so I've kind of went dark here......but still listening to lots of stuff. Here's some of my favorites that I've seen little to no mention of on here.  If I had to pick an AOTY, it would be between Danny Daze's Blue album and the old/new Sun Electric live release.  Everything here has major staying power for me though and I hope you all will find a lot to like!

  2. Haven’t posted here in awhile - but have to pop in to say that this is all I’ve been listening to for the past few days. Love the concept, love the vibes. I agree that this artist has “something extra” that a lot of people doing similar things are lacking.

I second the Paradolia & Incommunicado LPs.

Also his earlier EPs like Blingkered or ones on Vakant like Ring.Click.Tink or Shminimal ep. These are more tools and techno whereas the LPs are artist LPs

I'll admit there's a heavy minimal and 2000's sound with some snares that may not age well but in his library there's really cool bouncy basslines and spacey percolating melodies and that dumb tuned down singing voice I just dig.

These Blawan track got me back into Alex Smoke, there's just something about it. Not mimicking or even genre but the same vein. Way more shuffling less grid like.

Haven't played Alex Smoke in years, but thanks for the reminder.  I also love Paradolia.

One of my favorite tracks, ever:

and some people say this is a deliberate attempt to prep people for what's coming so it's not a surprise or at least lessens the shock.. others say it's doom scrolling and doom is the money maker or something.

It’s scary either way. My kids are growing up in a strange world.

Dead Geoff vs Wolf Man Part 6

Good evening fellow Aphex Twin fans! Top of the evening to you.

I know Spotify is seen as witchcraft around these parts but I like it, and seeing as you don’t know where I live you can’t come round my dwelling and chuck me in the village pond to see if I sink or swim. I’m kind of fascinated with numbers of plays a track has had. This is a very underrated track (2.5 million +) in my humble opinion. One of his best.

I DESPISE Spotify, but you’re alright in my book, @beerwolf

All I know is that other collaborators don't release anything independently that would substitute for me listening to the Orb. Even if Alex serves only as a muse, that makes a real difference and the end results just aren't matched without him IMO. I don't know if he is mostly a muse or if he plays instruments or whatever else, I've read that he definitely was involved in sourcing and playing in samples in the early days and samples are often a big part of many great orb tracks, really well chosen. Whatever he does, he definitely makes a real difference it seems.

This. I might say much of Fehlmann’s solo work is on par with the best of the Orb, but the other collaborators…um, no.
