  1. i love this track! the quieter glitchy bits have got a real funky groove to them if you turn it up and listen closely. :music:

yes! it sone of the funkiest quari tracks of all. like i said, it sounded brand new to me last night. love it.

    the perlence gods giveth more

  2. I must have listened to this 20+ times but right now it sounds like I've never heard it before. This us not the first time ae has done this to me. How do they do it? Does this happen to you?

  3. Here you go...

thanks. i just read it, and will translate it later this week. its an interview/overview of their history as a band. among other things, rob talks about wanting to work with the concept of "space" in the music and not have beats which mangle/damage the melodies. he talks about "r ess" a little bit too and makes some cool metaphors about spaceships docking on the moon and "reformatting the listener's brain" (as in introducing them to the sound-world of the album)

    duuude get on that asap!

    yes please!

  4. im surprised more people aren't mentioning redfall, it kind of sounds like the sinister version of o=0, it's probably my 2nd favorite next to Treale

redfall is weird. really the back half of this is weird. in a really good way. it seems to take a different tone than the beginning. a bit darker maybe? not sure yet, but treale certainly separates the front half and back half. treale is just retardedly good. im going to have to restrain myself from overplaying that. its perfectly placed. this album has a gorgeous flow and a lot of what i feel was missing in quaristice.

i am a little scared at how much im loving this on initial listens. it always takes forever to really love new ae records for me. i think maybe its just because it feels so user friendly and open? i hope replay value stands up in the months ahead, i am pretty sure it will. there is no shortage of detail and strange structures everywhere. st epreo is one of my immediate favs so far.

  5. christ, this thread should just be exploded when oversteps is released. i wish i could contribute to the oversteps discussion but i havent even heard a damn preview yet. i reeeeally hope that if it releases on march 3 in japan that bleep puts it up on 3/3 also. if this leak is the only thing on the net, then bleep arent going to release digital files early at all.

  6. So, how many are left that haven't listened to Oversteps yet? Hands up

    *hand up*

    stil waiting.

amazingly, it has gotten easier now that the hype has subsided a bit

i highly recommend you get a record player, you're not just missing out on bonus tracks you're missing out on an extremely pleasurable & very tactile form of music listening that is in my strong opinion far more satisfying than listening to a CD or an mp3

i have been wanting to do this for awhile, i just have no idea where to start

  7. some of their older stuff sems to go on a bit too long, imo. stuff on tri rep or even chiastic, as awesiome as everything is, sometimes seem that the tracks are a bit too long. maybe im just being picky.

the only albums i get this off are amber and incunabula, really.

from garbage on, everything (mostly) 'sounds the right length'

in fact garbagemx used be my favourite ae track for a long time, and they could not accomplish what they did in that track in less time than it took, if you get me.

as far as i am concerned, every track on garbage could be an hour long and i wouldn't mind. its more with chiastic i feel that. amber sometimes too, for sure. like i said, its just being super picky to try and gauge what my fav would be. its an impossible task and i cant rank them like people are doing, i was just trying to over analyze to myself.

  8. disagree that it's 'not very experimental' sure confield started the whole off kilter AE beats programming thing but Draft imo is some of the best stuttering/drum melodies i've ever heard put to record.

it's experimental in the sense that they fucking nailed perfectly how to make beautiful sounding melodies completely out of their percussion and drum loops. if you can point me to a record that does this more inventively, creatively and as pleasurable i will personally pay you $1,000,000 :emotawesomepm9:

Confield and Untilted feel like transitions into and out of the perfection that is Draft 7.30

i agree with this pretty much. however, i find that i enjoy untilted and confield more than draft. even though draft is probably technically their best i find that i listen to untilted with much more regularity. i have a hard time with a lot of draft in short doses. untilted is great because it has an amazing amount of detailed programming but it can be listened to casually as well because most of the beats are just killer.

some of their older stuff sems to go on a bit too long, imo. stuff on tri rep or even chiastic, as awesiome as everything is, sometimes seem that the tracks are a bit too long. maybe im just being picky. i just have a thing for untilted i guess. i think if untilted was without fermium, id consider it my favorite record of theirs. although that does change every few months.
