  1. who else hasn't listened here? mesh gear? i know modey's out :D

i havent either. we'll have to make a new thread after the release and discuss. i wonder if our reactions will be different after reading this mega-thread

same here - not even listened to the FACT podcast thing

that fact mix is just insanely good, def check it out

  2. i don't remember the backlash from quaristice being this bad upon initial release. i do find it amazing that its almost the same thing every single new album release though. untilted wasnt as complex as draft. then quari comes out and it was too diverse and not as creative as untilted. now this is out and its not as fresh as quari. it happens every single time.

autechre have 3 big things always going for them: A) time. time as in how long it takes to truely appreciate their art. 2) sound quality. their work is undeniable so well crafted in terms of sound quality. and D) their constant ability to reinvent an reinterpret their music and musical ideas.

i am by no means saying anyone's opinion of this is wrong it just seems like there are tons of knee jerk reactions to a new and differnt ae style on a shitty transcoded 1 track leaked album after 2 days or so.

that being said, are these new tracks kind of in the style of theswere and wnsn? thats what im getting kind of from reading. i love those trcks, and that style.

  3. Yes! I finished reading the thread! :yeah:

This is brilliant. Almost as good as Tool's 10,000 Days leak debacle. For months people were listening to (what was quite obviously) the new Tool record whilst swearing blind it was fake. They shut the fuck up pretty quick when the "real" one came out.

LMAO I've been thinking this since a few days ago, so true. And that is partly what's making me think this is real, because of the disbelief and dislike (I personally haven't listened).

lol, yeah. i didnt listen to that one either.

  4. This

"• when the track list/album title gets out, people will say its silly, stupid and not like the old ae

    • quaristice and the surrounding outtakes and eps will move up a notch and will be held in a much higher regard and appreciated for how good they really are

    • untilted can now move to its rightful place and be mentioned with draft and cornfield as pure ae gold."

And by the way, all this AE talk made me go back and listen to Quaristice and I liked it much more than before as always with AE.

Confield is maybe AEs best album and their masterpiece, and I hated it when I first heard it, took a long while to get into that one.

Just chill everyone and enjoy AE, be happy that they atleast release new material thats nice. You don't even know how hard it is for BOC fans these days ;) :P :D

And those who downloaded it and complain hard! shame on ya! :P Just by hearing two songs from the album on the German show I can tell they put their heart into this one.

lol, thanks for giving me the quote props! heh :whistling:

  5. Can Bleep please tell us in some way whether this is fake or not. I'm losing my patience. :P

I second this. But like I've said some post earlier, if this latest leak turns out to be the real stuff (the more I listen, the more I'm convinced it is) then Bleep will put the downloads up real soon now. They need to counter the illegal downloading.

If they don't put up the album this week, I think it's a fake one we've been listening to. I just can't comprehend if they allow ppl downloading the full album like this without doing jack shit.

you would think thats the case, but when grizzly bears album leaked almost 4 months early, they did nothing.

  6. Could you guys explain to me why you are holding out for the release date? I'm just wondering.

Is it a moral thing? Do you not want your impressions sullied by a 2nd/3rd rate copy?

My brother's the same way about Autechre. I don't mean to condescend about it; I just don't get it.

For me, it's mostly because I like the anticipation of album release dates. I grew up with it, and there was no internet or any other way to acquire advance copies of albums before they came out. I have good memories associated with album release dates. So I like to hold out. Part of it also is that I don't want to potentially listen to something inferior and would rather listen to the real deal for the first time. I also don't like the chance of listening to something and thinking it's a fake, not liking it much, then being disappointed to find out it is in fact real.

Now I suppose I could "get with the times" and anticipate leaks instead of release dates, like kids do these days, but nah. I'm old and grumpy! Even if I plan to download and try an album before deciding to buy it (I did pre-order Oversteps), I'll still wait for the release date or after to do so. So yeah in a way it's about quality, and wanting to make sure I get the legit product. But mostly it's the nostalgia and anticipation associated with album release dates. I like it, and there's plenty of stuff to keep me entertained in the meantime. I don't like spoiled surprises.

    yea this.

it has nothing to do with morals or anything, and i would never preach to anyone about downloading leaks. i just like my initial impression of the art to be how the artist intended it to be. i only really do this for bands i really like. i have dl'd tons of leaks and still will to see if i like a new band or whatever. but when it comes to artists i admire, i like to have the full album in my hands and check out the artwork etc as im listening for the first time.

edit: that being said, i will download from bleep early if its released early.
