  1. Brian Wilson's SMILE, a lot better than I expected. I have heard some "fan reconstruction" of the original but this is cool and has some new details, props to BW for it, not sure why I ignored it. Apparently a new box set was just released with a bunch of outtakes and reconstructions from the original smile sessions but I cannot find a download for it yet. There is something very interesting, beautiful and melancholy about this music. http://www.amazon.com/Smile-Sessions-Box-Set/dp/B004RFYEEC

  2. I always wanted to create a very complex 2-d adventure with the beautiful look of "Baphomets Fluch" (that's German, no idea how it is called in English...) but a way more clever and non-linear story... if anyone wants to help with programming and stuff, I would sit down and start writing :snares:

Broken Sword is the english name. Good idea, we need more adventure games.

  3. Yeah some students approached him and he accepted. How batshit insane that's going to be? Hope they address the issue of his mental health and how his parrents don't do anything about it. Same for her sister.

woah, where did you get that photo? I've been trying to find out if the documentary got filmed or not, cos it co-incided with the floods. Looks like they managed to film it.

Its weird cos I was thinking that Ulillillia would be a brilliant documentary, with the whole internet angle and everything, and then someone approaches him to film one.

re: Ulillillia's family - although he doesn't mention it on his blog, I think his family have done things about his mental health. I emailed him a few years ago and he mentioned that he had seen lots of doctors. He mentions doctors on his blog too, now and then. But mostly he doesn't. Thats not to say his family are coping well or anything, but I think they are basically aware that he's very different and needs help, and within their means they are trying to get him that help.

Yes. I think it is kind of ridiculous for us to pass judgement on his family. He seems to be doing pretty well for himself. He probably has a lot of shit going on mentally and his family seems to give him space while still supporting him, I mean, he doesn't seem to express any thoughts that I would find violent, disturbed, or malicious. I've seen people in far worse mental health that have been totally neglected by the system, he seems like one of the lucky ones and he seems to somewhat thrive in a way. He doesn't seem depressed or suicidal, for one.

  4. what is the best solution for dlna/upnp video streaming to an android device from the network? I've got it working using a combination of ps3 media server(which I already run for my ps3), upnplay, and rockplayer(to handle video playback). It works pretty well but I wanted to know if there was something more standard here. I just got a new LG optimus phone after upgrading from this bad boy(had it since 2005):

  5. I found something yesterday that, to my knowledge, has only once been seen before...around 40 years ago. And I can't share it with the world because doing so would potentially ruin my PhD research.

Replicated cold fusion... while trying to disprove it? This is intriguing, is it something that goes against what you are researching, or is it something personal about somebody you work with maybe?

  6. My neighbours are voyeuristic assholes

they use my illness to justify their actions-paranoid schizophrenic

    lol, is this true?

I had a neighbor that was CONVINCED that my roomates and I were living with her ex and we were harboring his existence("There is a MAN, living in your HOUSE and he is HARASSING ME!"). Supposedly he would harrass her at night by throwing things on the roof. (total load of shit crazy lady hearing things). She went so far as to track down my roomate's girlfriends liscense plate to her mother because she beleived it was the car that was transporting this man to our house every night. I even had cops come to the door sometimes trying to ask for the guy (some old ulgy bald dude that obviously didn't live with a bunch of 20-something young men). I would often see cop cars just sitting outside my house when I came home because she probably called them every single night. After a few months she wrote a long winded letter to our landlords trying to convince them we were hiding this man in their house. We had a meeting and explained how she was straight up batshit insane. It eventually fizzled out but I think she is still crazy.

  7. Okay, listen guys. I need a good metal album that is very technical and heavily composed with little to no vocals and with ripping lead guitar solos. Heavy but not washed out. Something for my brain. I want to get into metal but I'm really never in the mood for the dark thrashing screaming shit.

EDIT: let me expand on my request.. I've recently gotten very into king crimson which isn't exactly metal but I'm very into some of the riffier heavier moments they have. Such as:

    Red:

and the guitar soloey part of frakctured(solo around 5:10):

  8. Every moment with Aphex Twin is an Awesome moment.

    :aphexsign:

    yea okay masonic boom

    my hatred of Cornish Acid

    Not possible.

seriously... Cornish Acid = crack while driving. make sure you drum along with it on the steering wheel.

no shit thats why it's the first track on my afx driving cd

  9. God i fucking hate it when on the internet it all of the sudden it becomes cool to joke about being racist. I wish it were back in the old days when people didn't do that and just instead were racist, it wasn't a joke, you actually fucking owned black people. You were, by definition, a racist biggot asshole, no need to analyze the meaning behind people saying things that may or may not have been racist, it was either fucking racist and you embraced and fully backed your statement, or it wasn't? (<---wtf? does that sentence even make sense read it twice?)

  10. One of my classmates is really into Autechre. Never I would have thought that could occur in my whole life.

I had a class in college where I could name 3 others who were really into Autechre.

  11. I'm enjoying some of that new, New Blegium Ranger IPA. Is it new? Well they have new style labels. Its actually a Really good ipa, Fat Tire is very popular for an Amber but it feels and tastes just a little bit too massed produced(although its pretty genius as well, I love it on tap, hits the spot sometimes). This IPA on the other hand is one of their brewery's finest(I don't remember it being there in the tasting room when I was there last, nor do I remember what I drank). Delicious hops, but not too overpowering. Pretty fucking good

  12. I think I once made a thread about this album, saying it is better than saw82-93 or whatever and I think my opinion still stands. This in and of itself is really good. Not sure what that means, but just start off with the title track.

Polygone window: Oh shit, still one of the most awesome tracks, kind of like how xtal is on the beginning of SAW. Fucking perfectly mixed ambient techno, no doubt.

Audax Powder is so awesome. Its fucking a blast to listen to with the volume turned up. Its beautiful pad melodies with a section of totally detuned rave stabs in a pseudo counter melody. delay. it ends amazingly.

Qouth. hmmm, amazing just perectly wet with reverb and highpass filters and some nice compression. But still the same time kind of dark and dry. Its all about the kick drum, its all about the effect that percussion has on a track. There is a melody all in the percussion. Also listen to this one loud. Its a little out of place, ONLY problem with the track.

If it really is me: I remember the first time I heard this track. By this time it was settling in that this was indeed an amazing album. Fucking piano stabs in the perfect 90s tv drama mystery soundtrack. With a techno beat, it gets awesome when you have the claps come in.

I'm kind of stoned so Im going to stop the review right now and get on the other track my mind was onto.
