  1. Has anyone else not received their copy of oversteps in the post yet from bleep?

I've been waiting for a week since it's release and I'm starting to get worried.

Should I contact them about it or should I be patient?

I'm still waiting for my vinyl boxed set thing. I contacted Bleep and they told me to contact them again tomorrow (Thursday 1st) as it's 14 days after they dispatched the Oversteps packages. You should probably do the same tomorrow. If people are getting them in America, then we should already have them by now...

lol I actually contacted bleep on Thursday but no response yet.

well yeah, it's bank holiday weekend. usually takes bleep 24 hours to respond, but you won't get a response until Tuesday at the very earliest now

Yeah, I think I managed to contact them minutes before they were set to go home.

  2. Oversteps vinyl boxed set attempt #2 is now on its way over to me from Bleep.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some twat pulling random Bleep (and other such) packages off the conveyors at some Royal Mail sorting office somewhere around London/wherever. Seeing as the Quaristice special editions went for so much on eBay last time, it only takes one fairly uneducated Warp "fan" to nab the right sized parcels off the belts to sell them at a later date, yet not knowing that this time the special edition isn't so limited, if at all.

  4. Definitely up for doing this compilation. I'll submit an edited down version of the 20 minute jam I got from various Sonic games lol.

EDIT: RLR would be perfect for this. Failing that, I'd gladly put it out through FIR. Or perhaps joint distribution?

  5. Rob Brown lives in Bristol??? That's like 40 minutes away from me. SHIT! :P

Shit, what are you waiting for? GO VISIT! Gift wrap the latest MAX/MSP and a blunt as offerings.

I'm not familiar with English housing and real estate but what d'ya reckon you'd run into if you actually found his house? Is it more likely that he's rural? How about one of those really small stone houses on a lane but is so covered in thickets and other vegetation that you'd never know anyone was there? That's how it was when I drove through Bel Air and Beverly Hills.

Yeah I reckon it's most likely rural, you don't have to go very far out of Bristol to be in the middle of countryside really. Which most probably means he's closer than a 40 minutes drive. :wtf:

There aren't many hidden homes around here I'd say but you never know - if they're hidden you wouldn't see them lol. This is such a fanboy moment but seriously he must have been past where we are on the motorway so many times. Christ.

P.S. I just used :wtf: for the first time, it's really liberating :P

  6. Oh God they've reviewed the promo, meaning it's real. Oh God I feel sick, I've not had anything to eat, but it's the promo, it's terrible. Just the thought of see on see being a highlight, rather than a pretty interim track before the epic Treale. Which isn't epic or mind blowing I have to say. It's poo. see on see being so direct and crystal clear with a memorable melody I want to hear again and again, and most of the rest being convulated, forgettable, primitive, aimless and meandering.

I WILL NOT BELIEVE UNTIL I HAVE THE CD

But I am already crying inside.

    This is pathetic

    But understandable.

edit: strangest review I've ever read besides Robert Chris?Das?asd's shitty efforts. Are the Wire always like that?

Yes, I've always found The Wire's reviews to be arty to say the least. Their interview with Autechre after the release of Quaristice was a bizarre read with extracts of real interview interspersed with strange vocab cluster-fucks.

I believe the promo is the real album, or at least very close (there may be a few tweaks in the real tracks that may not be present in the promo, who knows?), but to ease the blow for you The Wire have fucked up before. You may remember them playing tracks off Quaristice on their internet radio show, before the album was released, without Warp's permission.

  7. If anyone was still wondering...

    http://www.normanrecords.com/records/113468

Wow, cheers for posting the link! That totally removes my thinking of this being an Ae-made fake, which is obviously a shame (two Ae albums released within a couple of months would've been killer!) but I'm not majorly disappointed... at least not yet. My thoughts:

-I'm leaving the leaked file to rust until the release date. I've only heard it once all the way through.

-This album is a MASSIVE change in direction for Autechre. I wouldn't say much of it is like their back catalogue at all, apart from perhaps maybe some of the FM synthesis being similar to LP5/EP7 stuff for obvious reasons.

-known(1) is a really nice track and I don't get all the hate whatsoever...

-Ae don't need to push the boundaries or do anything like that in my opinion, just make the music that they want to make.

-That one time I heard it, my inital reaction was "whoa, this is weird but I like it" then it started to drag on a tad until the point I barely noticed it was there playing. I don't think I'm going to touch any Autechre releases between now and the 22nd or whenever the WAVs come out. I hope it'll make me think more of Oversteps when its released. Wish me luck.

  8. i'm fairly convinced now that Autechre has faked their own leak.

Seconded. I'm thinking this way more and more every hour. I only listened to the album once though and said to myself to leave it until the proper release - I don't want some of the confusion that some guys have here....

interestingly i hear no Machinedrum 'midicommand' algorithmic sequenceing either. They jsut put out this external bxoes for the machinedrums that lets you do all these crazy modificatiosn to them one of them being algorithmic beats and melodies. it just came out 1 week ago so id be surprised if they had a chance to even use it yet. are you getting one Futureimage?

I'll be honest I don't think Ae would get one of those, they'd just use Max. Someone's already made a Max For Live patch which replicates the really cool turn-your-MachineDrum-into-a-melodic-synth mode.

And unfortunately I'm not getting one :( I have no monies after buying the special edition Oversteps
