  1. thats a good theory and all john lithgow, but why do you just keep saying that without presenting us with any counter evidence? we've already shown you piles of evidence, namely that german radio station played 2 actual tracks from the album that sound VERY similar to the rest. what do you have to say to that?

if this is just your intuition then kindly shut the fuck up,

Who are you, again? Hows about I have my own opinion and not fall in line with all you sheep fawning over Joe Electronica's "My First Whack At Reason"?

    Obvious Sean Booth is obvious.

  2. the true test for this fucker is gonna be tonight when I get to drive around my old hometown (which is a ghosttown at night) smoking spliffs and listening to this with nice headphones. I can see this album being great for the car

    What could possibly go wrong?

Also: please post updates on location so that I can make sure the people I don't hate are off the roads in that area.

  3. I don't want to sound like a prick, and I don't know how things are in the great land of "Not Selected," but not everyone has the same opportunities to go out and just discover new music like that. Not in the bumfuck suburbs.

I'm sure the local Best Buy would let you preview some Autechre, before you buy, if they had any in stock. And Club 69 down on mainstreet would probably play some of pretty exciting new music too, if it was produced by Timbaland.

  4. It's Kari Byron and she's perfect.

My DL must have been incomplete; it cuts off around what should be Krylon. I think I'm just going to hold off until the WAV comes, for realz this time. Some of this is immediately awesome (ilanders) and some of it is getting a little same-y, but that's a first impression based on half-listening to an incomplete DL while trying to do some work. And also I'm exhausted. So who the fuck knows.

  5. Can I just say this? Warp sucks. WORST marketing ever. They announce an album almost 3 months in advance and why? To build hype for those who either pre-ordered this already or will buy it regardless?!? <sarcasm>Makes Sense!</sarcasm>

This is Lame. LAME. So within a little wee message board or two, we've been tasked with hyping shit to other people who are also hyping shit.... so that we can all run around and express how much we can't wait to possess something we technically already own/paid for. Wow, this makes a ton of sense in an insular IDM-beard shithole of an environment called the internets. Good job.

There really was NO purpose of announcing this so soon. No true media splooge yet. No printed interviews. Nothing. The only purpose I see is to anger their most loyal fans. Everyone knows bands make their real money on merch (which includes lmtd. edition high quality vinyl pressings, stickers, shirts, hats, b-sides, one-offs, etc.)

    Here's a solution:

Announce, then release. "Hey everybody! I'm about to come!.... Came." Release only highquality digital files and debut your "merch" the day of your first show on your upcoming tour. Print better t-shirts and begin selling soundboard recordings of your livesets.

Here, everyone is happy, more people come to your shows, and your sales increase in all lines of business.

Autechre sez: I promise not to come in your mouth-- GAAHHHERRRRRUGH.

  6. Anyway, realizing that you all seem to know Ae's music back and forth (as do I, admittedly), I do have an interview with Sean Booth coming up, so if you have any burning questions or insights, I'd be interested to see them.

i´d like to know if there are explicit "rob" and "sean" songs on quaristice (and on oversteps). because to me especially on quaristice there were two kind of tracks. on the one hand you have:

    altibizz

    plyPhon

    Simmm

    Tankakern

Fol3 (or better: fol4, fol3`s bigger and better brother)

    Theswere

    Wnsn

which are completely awesome and deep, and on the other hand you have totally different sounding, (and more aimless and imo weaker) tracks like

    The Plc

    Perlence

    90101-5l-l

bnc Castl (not sure about the other tracks)

So, basically you want one of them to say he's awesome and the other to say he's responsible for what you perceive as "aimless" and "weak" tracks? Yeah, I'm sure they'll let you know.

Edit: not to mention in every interview ever they have said that the tracks most often come from a collaborative process.

  7. lawl, is that one of the fake tracks? I've been sitting out dl'ing so as not to look like [more of] a jackass.

Isn't that a tiny Gantz Graf sample around 5:15? I'm at work so my speakers are too shitty to really listen.

Edit: nah, probably just an artifact of the laptop speakers being shit.

  8. http://clonesound.blogspot.com/2010/01/initial-reflections-autechre-oversteps.html

"There are tracks here with the kind of ambient techno melodies that have scarce been present on an Autechre album since 1995's Tri Repetae."

    SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!

Didn't all the preview-reviews say basically the same thing about Quaristice?

This entire review just sounds like. . . someone describing what everyone would expect a decent Quaristice follow-up to sound like without going into any detail whatsoever.
