dbpoweramp is the only way to go. i use it for all audio conversion, from 24-bit files to flac->mp3 for mobile devices etc. install the program, install the optional additional file format pack (if you even need it) and go nuts. the full version is a good purchase, due to the fact that its so easy to use a child could do it. you can even eat popcorn and watch which of your processor cores is doing each song. YIPPEE!

i'm just going to have to reiterate here that this album kicks butt in 24-bit wavs. the sound is lush and the whole experience is being enjoyed here by all. ilanders is cleaned up, known(1) is as solid as ever, and treale fucking RULES. aaaand yuop is win.

i don't think it's a matter of being pretentious, it's a matter of getting the best sound quality for what you paid for. i have a pair of KRK8's, and i can remember the first time i played the cd version of quaristice over the speakers. it was a night and day difference from the leak. granted, most people listen to music on their $30 pair of headphones over their computer's built-in sound card. in that case, it won't matter what quality the source is. i don't mean to come off sounding like a deranged audiophile, but i strongly believe that autechre sets a precedent for sound quality that is rarely matched in today's music. and i KNOW there has to be more crazies on this board that agree. edit: also, what panz0r said is right. listen to plyphon at high volume with studio monitors, and it's sort of like upgrading zelda's wooden sword to the master sword.
