  1. I'm super stoked for this album, especially as Ben Frost worked on it with them.  He guested on a track on the Leaving Meaning album but now appears to have more of a pivotal role.

I even intend to go to an actual record shop to buy this!

I know right! Not a fluke either, the 2 previous to that went for similar values.

Check your cupboards for surplus stock ?

Quite good creepy folk horror with Reece Shearsmith (League of Gentlemen / Inside No.9).  Great psychedelic sequences in this one, and pretty great for a low budget filmed during covid thing in the woods. On Netflix.

  5. Recently smashed my way through Neonomicon and Providence by Alan Moore and Jacen Burrows. Great stuff especially if you're a Lovecraft nerd like me. Some weird/sexual shit in here which you would expect from Moore, not gonna leave these hanging around for the kids to pick up!

  6. RIP Watmm brother.

I know I've not been too active on this forum lately but I can only echo what others have said in that MIXL2 seemed like one of the decent ones when our paths crossed in numerous threads.

I remember the mental health thread when he opened up about things. I was in a dark place a few years back. Music helps to a certain degree but reaching out to people and talking has been the key.

  7. Happy to announce a new collaborative album alongside P.E.G (formerly of Smell & Quim)

8 tracks of found sounds bounced back and forth, unsettling rhythms, volumes and noises. Inspired by Dartmoor (again!) and the copious abrasiveness of P.E.G.  Excellent presentation on the tapes, sold out from the label but I have 1 left for trade if anyone is interested....

Was great fun creating this and it came together quite easily between us and the label in the end.

Some noisy bits.  Less quiet bits.  Lots of love.

Ps I also still have a monthly radio show of dismal noises and electronic droney sounds, check out the latest episode here -

  8. I saw Tim play at Fabric once before Surgeon, it was a very good night out. I have a whole bunch of the Balance CDs and they are generally very good so I might even grab this.  Although saying that, I'm a fan of Zabiela and Cooper and I've not heard either of those!

  9. Bit of self promo but I just released a collab album alongside Paul Harrison, formerly of Smell & Quim. Came out on Tone Burst last week with some great artwork accompanying the tape. Proper pleased with how this came out.  Noisy abstract weirdness with field recordings and bounced ideas.

Tape sold out at the label but I have a few artist copies to trade if anyone is interested

I never know that people here on WATMM was into Nathan Fake and James Holdens stuff

They did alot of soft dance music around 2005-2010

Border Community helped pull me away from euro trance in the late 90s / early 2000s and start getting into more progressive then experimental sounds.

I think already well documented in another James Holden thread, but his 2002 double-a side on Silver Planet Records, I have put out the light / Solstice, was massive....

There were a few labels around then that were trying something different. Including to a lesser extent SAW Recordings (Satoshi Tomiie's label) and FIRE/ERIF which was Lee Burridge and Cass. Great times.
