Lol, I leave myself voicemail messages with my ideas. My peak creativity time is about 2 hours into an 8 hour workday, without fail. Word up ieafs, great advice. My approach is to sit down with the intention of studying my instrument, some parameter or function or modulation I don't know well, and it almost always results in at least a workable bassline.
