Ten Incredible Recordings

Stumbled across this today. Might not interest everyone, but I found it pretty interesting.

1. Alessandro Moreschi - The only castrato every to be recorded. Castrati we males who had been castrated at a young age to prevent their voices from changing. It was popular in the 19th century until the Church formally banned the practice. Really weird sound.

2. Mado Robin - Has a really high voice. Her top note is a D an octave above high C. Anyone who sings knows that a sorprano that can hit high see has got it going on and and octave and a second up is unheard of. The last note is nuts.

3. Florence Foster Jenkins - The worst singer ever to sell out Carnegie Hall. People were attracted to her horrendousness for some reason. It is really really bad.

4. Pope Leo XIII - First recorded Pope. The least interesting one to me. Just a short audio of him chanting. I'm sure it meant more at the time since the Pope affects so many people worldwide and yet they don't even know what he looks like or sounds like.

5. Lord Hawhaw - A Nazi propagandist. A recording of him.

6. Number Stations - I didn't understand this one.

7. Florence Nightengale - Just a recording of her talking. Whatever.

Now things get interesting.

8. Russian Orthodox Exorcism. - I guess this is the first recorded exorcism. I don't know if anyone ever heard the tape from Analese Michel or whatever her name is (Exorcism of Emily Rose) but this one is way more messed up than that. Towards the end the possessed starts screaming and it sounds like what RDJ does to Veruca Salt's voice before he plays Come to Daddy Live. Actually, it could basically be from Come to Daddy.

9. Jim Jones - This is the guy who convinced members of his "temple" to kill themselves. This is a thirty minute recording of the actual event where he directs his followers to kill themselves. Very disturbing. But interesting.

10. First Phonograph recording. - Self explanatory.

11. SOUNDS OF HELL!!! - Must be heard to be believed lol.

And in a completely unrelated note, this is a scene from an actual children's show lol

I've heard all of these and stuff that's way more fucking interesting.

I'd rather listen to Ivan Rebroff than half this shit any day.

Read about number stations. they're electronic music as hell. secret spy messages that apparently sometimes get deliberately jammed by third parties.

Sounds from Hell is a lol. The guy is just like, wow, we have authentic tapes from Hell. Prepare to be disturbed.

I really just posted it for the castrato, the exorcism, and the thirty minute massive suicide which are all pretty interesting to me.

It's really only interesting for people who are interested in the history of recorded sound.

yea, that's unnatural yo.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the exorcism tape, which I thought was cool/interesting/disturbing/sad/sounded like RDJ.

We just hired a male alto in my choir. It's.....weird.
