aphex noiding out BLOC crowd

hmm.     only place i had any trouble was during his/hecker's set.

1 get the fuck out of my way. 1 get out of my space shorty i cant see, and something else i cant remember.

my friend got started on by 2 blokes, and hes nice as pie. also spoke to another group of mates ouside who had left  and the same rudeness happened to them, so it wasnt just a freak occurence what happened to me. lots of people looking in very weird places, me and gf felt odd vibes from crowd (not all of them mind you, loads going  fnuts to it)

was very spikey hardcore stuff with loads of odd acid glitch coming from the back speakers (sounded good in the center of the room)

1st 2 tunes (nice trippyhoppy thing and deep acid/tech thing) were beautiful but after that very spiky hardcore and all that aggro put us off and we went back in the techbloc room which had people being really nice to each other and grins all round.  very odd. i hope the rest of the set was nice.

not sure what caused it tbh, intentional mind control? general fame so lots of twats turn up?

anyway, brilliant weekend, loads of good music (ADJ was amazing, cosmic force doing aux88 funk-acid-electro-bass, ebola playing brilliant dubstep, FSOL making my gf cry, dave tipper playing late but good tip-hop/wobble factor stuff, some good techno, dylan & robyn chaos were fucking brilliant, bizzy b was quite cool too, ed rush n optical were also. cant remember atm what else was good. oh some nice minimal stuff with everyone chugging along.

missed quite a bit of stuff saturday night due to spazzing out in bed w/ gf, but we slept really well and ate good food and hardly drank a drop so was fresh every day, got searched by 2 security guards, 1 who told me it was his first night being security  and managed to jedi mindtrick  them both  :embrassed:

best bloc ever for me, had a brilliant time. 5/5.

yeah it was quite cool. too much strobes though, made our eyes tired. rephlex green 'this is the voice of world control obey me or die, you've had your last drink, etc etc' computer words/voice intro. and a flashing aphex logo.

his haircut was ok & cant remember what clothes he was wearing.

the mixing was on form too.

expected a response maybe talking about the creation of positive reactions due to negative inputs and proof of how they can twist people up or something.

maybe some people just dont like certain tunings.

i spoke to an irish girl who woke up in the recovery tent masturbating.

I really want that intro to make it to the album. It was so fucking funny. That whole build up about 'this is the voice of total control' and human inefficiency and how we all need to submit to the all supreme power of the machine. Then there was that pause and the voice came back and said everyone had had enough to drink.

I lolled hard.

I can't believe no one else has mentioned the end of the set! It was the most terrifying thing ever. From where I was standing I could see people leaving or just getting out of the way. Those visuals were brilliant too. That weird vibrating exploding AFX face was badass.

Also if anyone was at the back or middle-back you might have hear the surround sound. It seemed AFX was coming from the front and Hecker from the back. He was making these fantastic throaty squeltches and roars throughout the gabber ending.

Saw Rich afterwards walking around carrying his sleeping kid. We gave him a tiny quiet applause which he seemed to like.

FSOL were brilliant too. Never seen them before but you have to hand it to them. They definitely do something quite special.

i think the point was to create this oppressive, perhaps suffocating atmosphere. the bass was huge, and the lighting quite spazzy. your probably spot on with 'mind control' - if people were fighting then most probably this was intentional. seemed to be a little bit of tongue-in-cheek piss-takery too - the sketchy gibberings at the back of the room seemed to say 'fuck you wallflowers, get to the front and dance' (not literally of course).

i think if it wasn't for the atmosphere, visuals and sheer sonic amplitude of the thing, ie. the same volume as other sets, it would've been one of the more forgettable sets of the weekend. it was my first time seeing aphex however and it delivered. best bit was hearing your favourite tuss tracks off speakers like that.

skream was just relentless. main thing i took from the weekend though is i feel ive been converted to dubstep. ive always liked it, but never thought too highly of it. probably something to do with not being able to dance - when youre just nodding your head it's nice to also have your ribcage rumbled.

dynamix II was great, as were countless other artists. missed quite a few i wanted to see, but thats just the nature of festivals.

heh, there were some good "aww hell yeah" moments. makes you smile.

FSOL were good. not sure if i heard papa new guinea, sure id recall it if they did. was buzzing to dead cities! live video uplink had the fuzzy aesthetic quality of a cctv/byork fan video.

Yeah I think they were broadcasting from a chapel or a church, they had vaulted windows in the background. Also was he wearing robes or something? Realy liked the cheap webcam effect.

I wonder if Aphex might play Glade?....

Just a thought.

that would be nice.

btw, was it the drugs conjuring repressed fantasies or were there a load of transvestites dancing on all the stages?

So Aphex now has the power to control people through music? Is he the second coming of Jesus?

Second coming, I don't think so. He has obviously just been taking notes from BoC.
