looking to buy a JX3P with PG200 programmer from a guy in SF after i saw his craigslist ad. we intend to do this with paypal. so far my plan is to request he sends me scans of identification/ proof of residence; is there any way we can write up a mini contract where if he doesn't send me legit proof of shipping with insurance then it's called off in my favour? if i did this with a credit card instead, then could i write it off if it does go awry?

any help appreciated, ta

doesn't paypal protect buyers in case of dispute? wondering

yes and no... you must follow the strict guidelines. If idrn sends him money and doesnt get the device he should be able to get his money back, but if the dude sends him a box of shit it'll be pretty hard to dispute since, the tracking should show that the package got there and idrn signed for a box of shit.

just wondering, how much are you paying for shipping & handling?

i wouldn't buy such a common synth from overseas, especially when you're not sure if you can trust the seller. the shipping costs wouldn't be worth it to me, that thing is bluky!

it also seems kinda curious that he can't sell a J3XP in his own area.. i'd understand if it were some type of rare synth, but why go thru all the packaging hassle, potential shipping damage, international payment hassle & paypal fees, etc, to sell a frickin JX3P to someone in the UK?!

I think he meant the numerous WATMMers who never sent their Secret Santa gifts.

well it comes with the pg200 which is quite rare and often goes for a bit, so i'm offering more than he was asking along with postage. so far i can't get a good deal in the UK. i saw a lone 3P going for 160 but when i emailed it had gone. there there's the ebay super hans who's been too much hassle; playing silly buggers on ebay's 'best offer' then trying to reschedule the collection when i'm half way across london with two fifty in my pocket. fair enough then, i hope you can work something out. just one thing to keep in mind. is that when items arrive in a bad shape, it's hard to tell whether the seller sold you a damaged item, or whether it got damaged during the shipping, which can be a very frustrating thing to work out with the seller. might be worth discussing with the seller in advance.
