WATMM MANCHESTER MEET UP/GIG

Margaret thatcher (the Watmm user, obviously) came up with the idea of having a Watmm meet up but also a chance for the music makers to have a bit of play. I was thinking what a great idea it would be but didnt know what to do next. But as luck would have it, i got an email through myspace this morning asking for bands and artists to play at salford crescent. They dont ask the artists to pay any money or to have to sell tickets etc.

According to their blog/about us section on their myspace they will provide a basic drum kit, pa system, 3 mics and their own sound mixing chap. So i think all we would need to do is bring laptops or whatever and plug in.

Would any manchester, or surrounding area Watmmers be up for this? If i can get a list of people willing to play i can approach the organisers and see what they think.

I will link to their myspace soon, posting this off my phone which is utter crap, so may take me a while.

Let me know what you lot think? I reckon its a great opportunity.

Oscillik, i will hopefully try and arrange it for a weekend, i imagine that trains run later( i dont know what i'm basing that on really....)

But it wont be for a good few months anyway, if it does happen. Like i said, i would like to get a few names willing to play first before i get on to the promoters.

I tried to copy and paste their about us thing but my phone is a piece of Shit!! I will sort it out when i get in from work in a few hours.

If it all goes to plan we could try and make it a regular thing.

This sounds good man, where do we sign up?

Myspace

Soundcloud

Also i know the road Salford Crescent, but not the venue....is it near the Black Horse Hotel? (old squat party venue)

Just asked a mate in work and he said its actually called 'the crescent'. Its been in the camera good beer guide thing for the last 10 years and has loads of real ales, if thats anyones thing?

I will get onto the organisers when i get in. Really excited about this. Even if we all get half an hour to play it will be a good laugh. Lets just hope they dont discriminate against "our" sort of music! I will find out for sure. If not i will get onto some other places. We can make this happen!

REET!!! I have just sent them a message to say that I am interested in organising a night at their venue, and stated that the music will be electronic/drum and bass sort of stuff. So I just await their reply now. Will keep everyone posted.

This is the myspace site http://www.myspace.com/tingntingentertainment (ignore the name...as long as they can let us have a room we are sorted.)

oh, and here is the website for the actual venue - http://thecrescentsalford.co.uk/

Oscillik, i will hopefully try and arrange it for a weekend,

if that's the case then, i'll pull an all nighter :D

Excellent! Well by the looks of the gigs advertised on the myspace page, they are all on Friday or Saturday nights, which is great!

if someone could meet me at the nearest train station too, that'd be grand. since i don't know my way around at all.

i won't be performing, since i haven't worked on tracks for well over a year and have no gigging equipment anyways. i'll just bring my oscillik-ness with me

We will sort something out mate, no worries. Maybe we can all meet up quite a bit before and have a beer somewhere.

Still waiting for a reply off the organisers anyway...

Awesome, yeah that's literally a few doors up from the Black Horse. Looks good, and proper beer too

I know this sounds a bit daft but do you know if they've got woofers?

I reckon there's plenty of other people on here that can play a good set, Solo Strike springs to mind, errrr....Wisp?

I haven't a clue mate. I will ask them questions when they get back to me and if they are interested. If they aren't then I will have to have a rethink and get onto some other venues. At the very least, we should all meet up and get lashed, but it would be MUCH cooler if we could all play a bit.

June works for me too! Really the further away the better, that way I can save up some money and my holidays start at work again!

I'm going to tell him June 12th which is a Saturday night. I hope everyone can make it. It leaves loads of time to do a set and get trains or whatever booked. Sound good?
