Maybe use some tasty reverb too :) i didn't know BASIC CHANNEL, but i don't want to do more variations. my aim is to create a complex stream that must persist for 4-5 minutes without getting bored. thanks for your point of view. Well I just checked the last 5 tracks on YLC and only one of them had some small similarities to analord so I guess this 'secret' is probably old. And I check YLC pretty often. Analord clones aren't very rare but obviously they aren't majority too. I called that statement a total bullsit because it's basiclly saiyng that all contemporary music with variations on each bar is 'a useless bunch of different architectures that hide the original idea' which obviously is a total bullshit. Guest crivella Posted May 10, 2011 Share Posted May 10, 2011 pretty interesting that you got those sounds out of one synth but labeling your thread "a new kind of techno" is dooming you to negative criticism. first: this is not "new techno" mainly because there's no way i can picture myself dancing to this (unless that's how you'd define "new techno"?). there's no steady pulse or sense of repetition, which I would consider key elements of techno. if you want to nit-pick at the details of what techno is then be my guest but I think that was a pretty bold statement you made there... secondly: for what it is though, it's quite good. I'd consider it closer to ambient and noise and I agree that maybe you could add some verb (or at least add something in that creates a sense of space...even just a gruff voice saying "THIS SONG IS PLAYING IN A BIG HALL"). what did you use to make this anyway? right know, to avoid that problem (getting bored), music makers usually use to make tracks wich get variations each 3-4 beat 2-3 second. It's pretentious and you know it...I'm guessing you came here for constructive criticism and other music maker's advice and opinions on this track, and you're being defensive as hell about it. If you want to be arse kissed talk to people on Soundcloud. The synth sounds nice and I like the way it starts back up at seemingly random intervals. The same sort of ideas are explored in Basic Channel stuff, but the tracks evolve in more interesting and subtle ways in my opinion (you should give the Basic Channel compilations a listen). I like that you're thinking differently about music making to most, and for what it is, it is good.
