hell fucking no..............

you guys depress me. all YLC musicians. it seems like no one ever does something original, or at least interesting. don't take this personnally pigster, but the huge amount of shitty music posted in this subforum makes me sad.

i have a really deep passion for music, as much as the next guy on watmm i guess, and by posting what i consider to be very mediocre creations, i think you people aren't contributing to the greatness and invaluable joy that music is. you're missing the point.

sorry for not making 'constructive criticism' about your tracks pigster but in my opinion they're pretty symptomatic of what i'm talking about.

Conclusion: Only create music that you know are contributing to music as a whole?

If you are trolling, then you, sir, are most successful.

And Brian is acting like a cunt... as always.

yeah, i said what i think sincerely without making compliments and licking balls therefore i'm acting like a cunt. brilliant deduction, sherlock.

just because someone creates something doesn't mean this thing is necessarily good (does that make sense?).

i don't see the point in sharing creations if those don't have a value of any kind in relation to the general context of music, that's how i see it anyway. the same goes for any kind of art. if you don't have something interesting to say (musically speaking), then don't say anything! silence is golden!

not exactly. it's perfectly ok to create music just for fun. that's what music's for in the first place, right? :sup: now sharing it is another thing.

I get your point brian, but this is not the right place to vent your frustration.

"original" is a big word: show me something original on the music landscape.

the stuff whether released or not, ppl ejaculate over here isn original or interesting.

fine who cares.

I cant remember the last time a track blew my mind. Also I consider not even a handful of the many hundred songs I have made as good.

Many established artists are not that choosey. A guy like Richard releases 1% of the songs he makes. (he likes to create a myth with everything he does, but I don't believe one thing, I think he is working his ass off to get that 1%)

BUT: ylc is a different thing, Imho many passionate ppl don't have the time to do music 24/7, however they want to share their little successes like a nice synth setup, a chord progression, drumprogramming or something else, they have been sitting on.

They don't want to revolutionize music. They did a small song, and ylc is the place to post it. Thats how I see it, and I encourage everybody to do it like me, post your stuff, basta.

You're basically trying to put limitation on creations as a whole. Creations that has no true, original value. Take note of the large amount of subjectiveness in your statement. You're acting as if your point of view is indisputably true.

it's called a point of view. i'm not omniscient, neither objective.

i just think it's stupid to bring everything to the same level. things have different values.

Could it be that all you trying to say is: try harder, don't post everything here. be more serious and so on. Value & definition of art are problematic. if a track is bad for obvious reasons ok, but a track can still be good without being interesting or original...

pretty much, yeah!

i mean, having ambitions and wanting to reach a certain level isn't a bad thing. on the fucking contrary, that's how we men get to what we are, what we know and what we do now! imagine aphex twin sitting in the bank vault, making 'expert knob twiddlers' with mike paradinas and thinking 'hey, this is the pinnacle of my career. my mission on earth is completed. i can now play video games and live on my copyrights until i die. happyyyy :derp: ' - that would be seriously depressing, wouldn't it?

Everybody's not Richard Fucking D. James. Everyone is a not an actually talented, original, etc., musician. And therefore I'd like to say that the same level of quality can't be expected of everyone, but then again, nothing is expected. Do the things you like to, shitty, unoriginal, downright horrible, you name it, it doesn't matter. There's no expectations unless you're just a hired musician solely composing music for other people's liking, in which case your level of creativity possibly matches that of American Idol-contestants who really should be singing in wine bars or in cruise ships (End Steven Wilson quote).

Edit: Oh. And I actually do like the 2 songs, pigster. nice job. Didn't really care for the visuals, yet they do add a level of digital madness to it.

this argument has no sense in this conversation. what are you talking about?

this place is not a kindergarten. it would be like, we're the teachers, or the mothers, and we have to applaud and congratulate every kid who does a shitty drawing.

this music thing is serious shit ok? :mcgriff:

Nobody's telling you to clap every user on the back and say "that's nice use of the amen sample, and funky acid bassline, Tommy!", but please do define what holds proper value when it comes to music.

ok, i'll give it a try:

if you're not going to make something that will be a new milestone on the musical theory level (extremely few people can pretend doing such things - which is rather sad by the way, but that's not the point), at least try to make music that has something rather 'unique' to it, something infectious, like a certain energy, or a groove, or an interesting or unexpected harmony, or even disharmony. you could be experimenting in the field of psychoacoustic phenomenons, who knows?

or the interesting aspects could be found somewhere else: you could be doing something innovative with signal processing for example, whether the result is funny, weird, or simply hideous.

there's an infinity of interesting things that can be done in music, the possibilities are endless.

@ Jonas: narrow-mindedness is what kills creativity. one has to get his nose out of his shit to see the whole picture. freshness my friend

lol most of the music you post as example of good music is also just normal western harmonics. post some mindblowing tracks you did yourself before you destroy people who just want some feedback and trying to become better by having some litte feedback on their current progress.

its easy to give bad feedback but how about remixing the track by op in a way that it becomes killer and then tell him how you did it so he can learn? You could even post a track by yourself that is as great as you want others to be. not able to do it? so shut the fuck up

lol. where's your music yourself? smarty pants

i make music that i consider being more interesting than the ones i hear in YLC, yet i think it's not interesting enough to be shared. that's why i don't post it on the internet. when i'll have something interesting enough to make others listen to, i sure will share it.

I am not killing peoples effort to create something by just ripping them appart for their litte effort to be creative instead of helping them. If you feel that this track is not great why not helping them to become better instead of killing their creative efforts

there's nothing that can be done to save these tracks. they were dead before they were even born.
