Ash Koosha - I Aka I

Recommended Posts

Album out now on Ninja Tune.

"One of 2016's most important players and (...) one of the most unique records to come out in years." (Exclaim, 9/10).

"Sumptuously melodic and sonically rich." (Uncut, 4/5).

"Western and Middle Eastern influences collide in a glitchy and rhythmically experimental union." (Mojo)

"Koosha has thrown a gauntlet down to all electronic artists trying to synthesise the noise of the modern world or of their inner lives into music, simply by showing them how it's done." (The Quietus)

"Even at its darkest and strangest, Koosha's music rarely feels like it's trying to punish or alienate the listener. He seems excited to explore the possibilities of music-making technology, and the results are endlessly fascinating." (Allmusic, 4/5)

"A shuddering, bending feast of sound." (MusicOHM)

Picked this one up the other day after being really intrigued by the album art and Bleep's recent promotion of it. It's really interesting stuff... The middle eastern influences definitely show in a few places, in a good way though. Some moments are pretty glitchy and beat driven, others more melodic and lush all in all it's some proper IDM. Definitely will be giving this repeat listens.
